  1. I always get the best brake pads out there because your life depends on them. I will say l never bought ceramic and after reading this thread l'm glad l didn't
  2. Thanks for the replies. l was planning on crimping them and soldering them. I will try the liquid electrical tape Again thanks for the replies
  3. l have some Anderson sb350 type connectors l'm going to use as quick disconnects for my winch to connect it to the battery in my truck. My question is after l crimp the cables to the connectors and install them in the plastic housing, what would you guys use to seal the back end to prevent moisture from getting in?? l tried buying some "heat shrink" type sealers made for these connectors but evidently mine are a smaller size because they are way to big Thanks
  4. l had dead 2 month old batteries in my 2001. Read through threads on dead batterieshere and found info on IOD fuse #12 in junction box.The shop manual said to disconnect both batteries, connect a amp meter between the ground terminal and ground wire - keeping it connected and wait for 3 minutes then check the fuses and relays. The only drain l had was threw the IOD fuse #12 in the junction box I had a 246 mamp drain threw it. Shop manual said should be less than 30. Used shop manual wiring diagram to narrow it down to lights common to that fuse. It was the glove box light. Disconnected it and the amp draw dropped to 1.64 mamps. :)

Stuck it in the wrong place. Will add it to 24 valve
  6. They use these to tie down freight in aircraft - - - Updated - - - I had to drill a bunch of 1/4 inch holes in mine to get them out of my old truck
  7. how long do you guys let your engine idle before moving? I thought 10-15 second was long enough to get oil to everything. This forum is great with lots of feedback and interesting discussionStart up idle time
  8. Thanks for the info. If I can't figure out how to adapt it I will have to break down and buy one. My trailer will fit between my 2 post lift. it will be a lot easier to maneuver it in there looking at it.
  9. Does anyone know if the receiver hitch that came from the factory will fit on the front of the truck? I took it off and put a class V hitch on the rear.Thanks.
  10. combined stop and go, 2 lane highway and interstate 346 miles 17.72 gallons 19.52 mpg. wife drove some with a heavier foot and I did blow some smoke getting on the interstate - my grandkids were impressed with the smoke. I wish I had seen it.
  11. I would think that while you are idling and cooling down the oil flowing through the turbo would be cooling it also. Is 225 degrees oil temp a problem shutting down? My water temp has not gone above 190. Don't know, just throwing it out there wanting to see what everyone thinks. Thanks for the responses
  12. How long do you guys let your engine cool down before turning it off? Down to what egt??I've been letting it cool down to 320-340 before I shut it off. Thanks
  13. It is definitely in parallel. I have an off-on switch to "disconnect" it while I start the engine, then turn it on - so the grid heater works. Also this way I can keep it off during the summer. Yea, I have other things I need to do now, so I will change the wiring and switch next spring to make it so either - or is being used. I don't drive the truck every day so any increase in mileage I would get by hooking it up the correct way won't hurt too much. Thanks for your help.
  14. So I need to hook it up so I am using either the iat sensor or the 2200 ohn resistor. I have a switch in line with the resistor so I turn it off to start the engine with the iat sensor only and then add the resistor. I got an iat sensor extension with the correct plugs on either end and plumbed the resistor in to it. I guess I need to get a switch to hook it up so I am only using one or the other. Thanks for the info guys!!!!!
  15. I put a 2.2k ohm resistor in parallel with the iat and installes a winter front in back of my grill. Even with temps in the low 60s the enging temp didn't go over 190. I drove the truck 248 miles empty about 200 miles at 57 mph and about 48 at 67 mph. used 12 gallons of fuel. 20.49 mpg.Went to indy pulling a 2000 pound trailer, came back with a 2000 pound lift on the trailer. 348 miles. About 50% at 70 mph 40 % at 65 mph and 10% at 55 mph. used 23.75 gallons - 14.65 mpg
  16. Thanks, I will. I built a winter front and bolted it on in back of the grill also. The truck does warm up faster.
  17. Thanks for the info. My gauge doesn't have red and green bands, just shows pressure. Thanks again
  18. Guys is 20-21 at idle to high a fuel pressure??Thanks
  19. Thanks for the replys.I meant to add this yesterday. I have heard of the mechanical fan freezing solid when below freezing and running all the time blowing cold air accross the engine making it take a lot longer to warm up. Have you had this happen? Will plugging in the block heater and putting a 60 watt light bulb ( turned on ) on near the fan over night prevent this??ThanksNew to Cummins. 2001 2500 4WD quad cab auto, 150 raptor, gauges on post and fuel pressure gauge, xzillar, put cover over kdp, did your breather mod - radiator was covered in oily dirt, k&n bhaf and intake elbow, 62 mm turbo. Am testing the iat fooler right now.
  20. Has anyone put an electric fan in in place of the clutch fan?? I've read on some of the other forums about doing this but there doesn't seem to be a consensis on whether this is a good idea or not or if it helps mpg. Thanks
