Posted November 10, 200915 yr my 01 has a smarty/revo and i still have trouble building boost on the line .the tq man is defueling it.i dont want a rad box. can i get a ecm from a 99 or 2000? if i can how do i find the perfect matching ecm?
November 11, 200915 yr Author turns out the 99's used a crank sensor so the ecm change is out.dont get me wrong the smarty works ,but doesent remove it all.
November 11, 200915 yr Owner That's what I've heard that Smarty pulls a bunch off but not exactly 100% of it... So the Rad Box is the only thing I know that kills it completely...
December 14, 200915 yr Yep what Mike said. Plus during drag racing the smarty is just way too hard on parts as it hits way too hard down low but gives you nothing past that. I know of nobody that uses smarty for racing ect on a 2nd gen, I tried it once and it left me at the line with a snapped output shaft thus reinforcing what the pros told me about the smarty.
December 15, 200915 yr 2000.5 trucks also have torque management. Mine was built in Dec of '99 and unfortunately has it.
December 15, 200915 yr Owner 2000.5 trucks also have torque management. Mine was built in Dec of '99 and unfortunately has it. Actually all 1998.5 and up have torque management... It basically is controlled by speed of travel. Once you get past 20-30 MPH it released... I tried it once and it left me at the line with a snapped output shaft thus reinforcing what the pros told me about the smarty. Wow! Interresting... Well around here we are looking for long life of the truck not broken parts...
December 15, 200915 yr Author wild and free, When i dragrace i build 10 to 20 lbs of boost and then spray nitrous all the way down the 1320.Thats why my tranny has a tripple disc converter and a billet input shaft.
