As you know, I'm perfectly happy with my Smarty Revo SO6. As you know also, I run SW5 default setting 99.9% of the time. And I'm happy with the performance/results/mileage etc. Part of the reason I was reluctant to "upgrade" my Smarty was that I had an "ancient" computer; and I wasn't sure I could count on a "complete" download. I've now got a "modern" computer and can access do stuff my old one couldn't. This is my question……………….and I've been running SW5 almost exclusively since I got the Smarty. What, if anything, will I gain by downloading a "later" version of the software? Would SW5 be better or worse as far a mileage goes??? I'm not interes…

I have an 03 one ton dually 2wd SLT. The overhead console where miscellaneous readouts like compass, fuel mileage, current outside temperatue, etc... gives eratic readings. Example: Today the outside temp was showing 130 degrees Farenheight, but it was actually around 50 degrees. It's not a big deal, I can just turn the whole thing off and it don't bother me as bad, but if someone else has had this problem and knows an easy fix, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I've got a 2003 2wd Dually with the 5.9 High Output Cummins and 6 speed Trans. My problem is that when I try to change the vents from Dash to Foot or Defroster (or any combination) they don't change, it just keeps blowing out the Dash vents. I can turn the blower off and cycle the vent controls all the way in both directions and sometimes it will cause it to switch to one or the other. Also, the Hot/Cold switch has the same problem. It will be blowing cold air but I can cycle the switch several times back and forth and finaly a hear thud sound and it starts to blow warm air. I've been told it was caused by a vacuum leak, then I took it to guy who supposedly knows about th…

Ive got an 06 5.9 cummins auto, owned it for a little over a year now. First 5k miles, it used a little bit of oil, maybe top of safe to middle section, so lets say 1.5 quarts?. I have a leaking front crank seal(only visible oil leak), so I assumed it to be that. I didnt care, wasnt using enough for me to worry at this point. Previous owner had no issues, and was using Lucas long drain 15w-40 synthetic. I changed the oil back in april to Rotella T6(5w-40) since the lucas stuff wasnt available in the area I lived. Truck started mysteriously consuming more oil, no leaks visible anywhere on engine. I havent done a proper compression check on it, but the ones you can …

Went out this morning and only had 2-3 psi. I drove it to the store and back, no problem. It was cold last night and I'm due for new fuel filters, maybe some waxing on the dirty filters. Maybe it's my Holly Black fuel pump, it's been in there for about 5 years now and it looks like it is weeping a little on the bottom. I have a rebuilt Holly Black under the back seat. Not sure what to do?

This thread will be about tuning a late CR with early CR pistons and BBi Stage 1's. Truck: 2005 5.9L QCLB 3500 SRW NV5600 4x4 3.73's Pertinent Mods: BBi Stage 1 for MY03, QSB480 pistons, Hamilton 178/208 cam, Garrett GT3782R, rest in sig. Tuning: Smarty S-06 Revo UDC. Truck Use: In the summer it tows the camper around for plenty of family trips (17-19k GCW), and in the fall/winter it's used for hunting (lots of slow speed driving) and playing in the snow. It's not my DD. It sees a LOT of dirt/gravel, towing and not towing, as well as pulling steep grades loaded and unloaded. The truck weighs about 8,500 loaded for winter. My previous dyno/tune net me 415/850 correc…

So driving home tonight from work my engine light came on the truck started to loose power and running really rough. After the wife came with my Smarty I checked and cleared the codes then it continued to run like crap then I noticed my EGT's were 1200 just driving 30 mph plus you can see smoke pouring out the rear. Anyways i pulled over tuned the truck back to stock then it ran fine not one problem. When I got home reprogrammed it back to where it was when the problems started drove it around no problems. So should I have it checked out to be safe or do you think it was the programmer? The 0203 code is for the number 3 injector wire circuit and the 2146 is the cylinder b…

I left a week ago today for "opening weekend" of Arkansas duck hunting season. Did OK on ducks; and I wish I could've stayed longer. I waited to post about the trip to be able fill MightyWhitey up again so that I could give mileage reports for 2 tanks of fuel.Only downside to the trip was that the morning after I got home, I wake up to a flat tire on MightyWhitey!!! Driverside front. No indication of problems whilst driving home also!!! I dunno??:shrug:Anyhow; I left my house 1 week ago with about 1/4+ tank of fuel and filled up in Champaign, IL on the way down. About 180 miles to Champaign. That tank lasted me to Forrest City, AR plus a bit of running around down…

Lately it takes longer for truck to turn over. No smoke, idles fine runs great. I noticed today that if I hold the fuel pedal down 1/4 the way the truck fires right up. At Idle when cold fuel rail pressure is bouncing from around 5.6 kpsi up 6.4 and as low as 4.4. When warm starts the same but rail pressure sits around 5.3 up to 5.6 down to 4.8 kpsi. Any ideas on this. Thanks for the help.

As some of you know, I'm moving North and will be spending some time completely 'off grid', in a week or so . The only A/C power I will have initially, will be generator produced, and I won't be able to plug in my truck. Temps at night are already hitting zero to -2 or 3, and I'm wondering if i should have put in a lighter oil when I changed it, a couple weeks ago? I'm running 15W40 Rotella oil and Fleetguard LF16035 filter , any suggestions? Thanks!![h=1][/h]

I'm posting this for one of my best Buds.He drives the '03 with now 350,000+ miles on that I often refer to in some of my posts.Anyhow; he called up today with a question……………………..He told me while driving yesterday that the caps on the passenger side battery blew off. He found this out after getting home of course. He pulled out his tester, and that one registered 18+ volts while running and the drivers side registered 14.1 or so. Batteries are less than 2 years old.He picked up a new alternator and installed it and at the same time cleaned all battery terminals and cable ends…………………….he didn't clean the battery ground……………………I asked!!! Same results when testing the a…

This is like The Never Ending Story" for me! I've been getting these codes for years. I clean the 2 sensors put them back and in a few weeks and the codes come back. I both 2 new sensors and it was good for 6 months. I clean them and get a few weeks. So I replaced them again about a year ago and the codes are now back again. Now I clean them two days ago with sensor cleaner and can't clear the codes with my scanner. Today I go out there and unplug the Quadzilla, plugged in the Quadzilla end plug, put my scanner on it and was able to clear the codes. Whats up here, is this Quadzilla my problem? I no longer have the install direction, how do I un-install it? Also can …

Hey guys, looking for some help on some wiring issues Im having. I've got a '03 CTD motor (had NV5600 behind it), and dropped in 48RE. Rounded up a '04.5 ECM and wiring harness to work with the '03 CTD and 48RE, but the problem I have run into is bulkhead connector, "C-219", as it's called by the CTD Service Manual for '03 trucks. The problem? Well, the '04.5 engine harness doesn't have the exact same wiring/pin locations as the '03 under dash harness. I have all the pin locations and what not for the under dash '03 side. What I need is the pin locations for the engine side of "C-219" for an '04.5 model CTD.Thanks
