Sorry if this is brought up a lot. I did some searching but came up with nothing. I just bought a 1999 2500 24valve cummins, 266,500 miles, Ext cab, long bed, 4x4, Auto. It was all stock except the owner before me put a Airdog 150 pump on it. Since I bought it, I have put 4" straight pipe, BHAF, and have done all fluid and filter changes.(engine oil, engine oil filter, tranny fluid/filter, fuel filter, water separator,) I got through 3/4 tank of diesel and hand calculated my mileage, and it only came out to 13.1 mpg. This is probably 60% highway and 40% in town driving. I have tried my hardest to take is easy on the throttle, but every now and then the pedal dose get away…

So I went on vacation this weekend and had to leave the truck at the airport. No way to plug it in. I have known for a while that the batteries were getting a little weak but like a :banghead: I figured I could squeeze one more trip out of them. When I got back last night it was a toasty -7* F in Fargo, ND. Batteries didn't have enough juice to crank her over. Had a guy give me a jump and we finally got it started after a couple of times worth of cranking a few seconds, let the batteries recharge, run the grids. Now the check engine light is on. Gonna go by a autozone or something and use a scanner. Ill post what I find. I got some new batteries today so I shouldn't have …

While servicing my truck I noticed a severe oil leak coming from what appears to be the Crank Shaft. If I were repairing the KDP how much more work would it be to replace the CS Seal? This is a first for me and help/ Information about the procedure will be appreciated. Is there a write up on this?

In an ISO air filter test, ( iso duramax iso 5011 testing) They reference the average CFM of the test was 350 cfm. Isn't that a low CFM for a diesel air filter test?

Alright guys so I made the mistake of using a KN Air Filter for the last 4 months, and am currently waiting for a BHAF to come to the door . But before I do my switch is there a way to get the oil out of the turbo? It's not to bad since it's only been 4 months but you can still plainly see the oil in there it's not imbedded in the metal of the turbo yet Thank god!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok, so I decided to clean my MAP and IAT sensor today on the 99 24valve I just bought. There were no check engine lights, and it runs and drives good. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to clean them. This is the first time I have ever done this. I took out the MAP Sensor, it was pretty clean, but I did some work on it. Then I take out the IAT sensor, which is below the MAP at the bottom of the block??The two sensors look the same except for the electrical connections. I did some reading on other threads before I did this and everything I seen, the IAT has like a white plastic tube extruding from the sensor. The black is the MAP, and the tan was from the IAT sensor location?…

Ok, my 01 will lug to the point it will almost die when starting off In first. When it lugs like that you can push in the clutch and it will get a burst of power and rev up some what. What the heck is going on there? I been running that way for a while. It runs fine in every way but when taking off from a stop. Cam sensor?

On my way home from work the other day, on the freeway, my truck started to hiccup a bit. It got worse by the minute and within about 5 miles, the truck would only respond to the throttle when it wanted to, dead pedal. I thought right away my VP had gone bad. I hobbled home and checked the codes. My OBD2 scan tool showed 0122, The truck showed P ECU, P 1693, P 0500, P 1475, P 0122. I ordered a Blue Chip VP-44 and installed it this morning, no change. I went down to the Dodge dealership and picked up a Bellcrank and installed that, no change. When I push down on the throttle, there is no response. If I push and hold the throttle, at any position, even slight, it eventually…

Finally did the swap! 56mm compressor/12cm turbine up from 9cm turbine. Put an adjustable wastegate from Gillett Diesel along with the boost elbow from my Edge EZ. Spools a little slower down low but not much and really helped mid and top end. It just keeps pulling past 2200 rpm where my HY would choke. Turbo is a lot louder and and I can hear the air flow...although I think I have a boost leak from the driver's side now. The extra boost is definitely noticeable! Nice budget upgrade.

I need some help identifying the electrical connectors on this fuel filter head I got from ebay. It accepts a fleetguard FS 19596 7 Micron fuel filter with the water separator at the bottom and and electrical connection at the bottom. As can be seen from the pics, the filter head has a connector on the side, and 2 plugs, which are tied in together. The FS 19596 filter, as can be seen, has a connector on the bottom. I am looking for 2 things: 1. What type of connectors are these, as I plan on getting the correct mating partner for each (i.e. are they deutsch, multi lock, etc) 2. What are the connectors used for. I know the one connector on the side is de…

Ok so I replaced my contacts in my starter a week ago when my truck wouldn't start that fixed that issue! Now tonight I went out to start it and I noticed that mt lift pump ran for only 3 to 5 seconds and then I waited for the to go out and it just cranks, and I get no codes. So I turned the key to the "off" position and then turned the key to the "on" position and this time the lift pump ran like it's supposed to for about 20 to 25 seconds, and the came back on and I waited for it to go out and tryed it again still just cranks with no codes:banghead:. Now iv'e only had the truck a year, and replaced the fuel filter twice and each time I bumped it like required but I h…

I have a exhaust question. I bought a MBRP 4" system for my truck in my Sig, back in May of this year. I am just now getting around to putting in on today. I put everything on and it went to pretty fast. Before I tightened down the clamps and hangers, I wanted to check the firewall to down pipe clearance, to see if it needed to be moved or pivoted. There is a 1/8" at best. Here are three pics of the down pipe. The two from the top look like it is sitting right up against the firewall pad, but when you look at it from from a different angle like in the 3rd pic you can see there is a "LITTLE" bit of clearance, about a 1/8" at best. I put a MBRP on my last truck (6/7 years a…

Hey all, I've been having slow start on my 99 cummins and I read up about replacing the starter contacts and plunger. I got my parts in today and went to install them. When I took off the starter I noticed the smaller wire that was connecting to it was extremely loose. It was held on just by 1 wire and was hanging out of the starter. I accidentally broke it off trying to remove the nut that held the wire on to it. I attached photos of what I am talking about. Is there two wires that it connects too? Am I able to fix it, or am I better off purchasing a new starter? The pictures are here: http://imgur.com/a/iRc8B

1999 Dodge 2500, 24Valve, 4x4, Automatic Transmission, I have dropped the transmission pan to do an oil and filter change. Got all the oil drained out and filter removed. I then proceed to adjust the rear band. I am new the adjusting bands, but consider my self a good mechanic(until now), So I back off the tension nut. set the torque wrench to 72 lbs. Starting turning. It getting really tight and then the adjusting screw starts to strip, so I stop. I have realized that I have the wrench on 72 FOOT pounds not INCH pounds!:banghead::banghead::banghead:. I only got to about 30ft pounds when it striped. After about two hours of trying I have got the adjusting screw removed. I…
