Been noticing a change in the sound of my truck the last month or so but still working the same, no smoke, no hard starts  etc. Tonight I got dead pedal about 5-6 times when towing my trailer. Did the odmometer read and its showing the 216 code which I know what it means. My question is this..each time I got dead pedal I looked and I'm still holding 17-19 psi with no drop. Only drop I see in pressure is now at an idle im at 12-13 instead of the usual 16psi. Is dead pedal normal when holding good psi? Calling around about pumps tomorrow unfortunatley :(

Well that depends on the velocity through that small hole. If the fuel can move quickly a high volume can go through it.

At some point in anything, hyd, air, Fuel, etc... pressure becomes restriction. at the point where CFM or GPM doesn't increase or very little as pressure is increased is at that point

I learned from Mopar1973Man. My VP has only gone 1/2 of a tank without 2 stroke and that's beause I needed clean fuel in it for industrial injection to test the pump. It will never go without again!

 

If you don't have enough pressure built up, then when there is an instantaneous high demand for fuel there won't be enough pressure to compensate and it could starve the pump. It's interesting how pressure / volume / velocity all work together to give a gph output.

Like trying to spray paint your Cummins with a 3/4 HP compressor, The PSI goes to 130 but the CFM is 1.5. As soon as the tank is empty (MT) and the compressor kicks on it can't keep up with the demand for volume.......................or pressure. The VP44 is similar if you tried to run it with relief valve rated for less pressure than 14 PSI. You would have to come up with a different term other than "HEAT CYCLES"

It's not an outrageous costs to use 2 Stroke Oil. I would like to know where you are limited to use 2 cycle or does it matter if you add it to any CR or a 3 cylinder diesel engine or is it limited to older diesels like a 24 vale and 12 valve.

I think that depends on the emission equipment. I have no idea what it does to a DPF or recirculation system. All diesels without that strict equipment should be fine though. It is run in my dad's 12 valve, my borther's 05 CR, my 02 24V, and my mom's excursion (Powerstroke)

So I have my new pump on for about a week now. Some issues i'm having are right from the first time i started it and took it for a drive I found immediatley on the stock setting on my EJWA its laggy, as in don't want to get out of its own way laggy. If I use the mileage, tow or drive Mod on the programmer it's pretty good....starts fine. A week later, I was out with it last night and parked the truck, about a half an hour later I went to start it and it rolled alot before it would start (3-5 seconds), no white smoke once it got going. Tried start/stop a bunch of times and acted the same way. Parked it overnight and my wife went out to take it this morning (cold engine) and it fired right up. Drove to where she was going , shut it off and came back out about 4 hours later and started fine again. Got home with it and unloaded her horse , i went to start it to go unhook the trailer, rolled 4-5 seconds, shut if off and tried again, same thing.

 

I went all over what I touched when replacing the pump and even looked over items I didnt touch, cannot find any leaks, can't see where i'd be getting air and to that point i'd like to add i can shut the truck off and try to start it a second later and it will roll 4-5 seconds, so as for air in the system, I can't understand it sucking that much that quick without showing me where its getting in.  Also to add a twist, there have been times today when i'm working at it, i'll start it and it starts right away for 3 or 4 times, then it will act up again on the next try .New fuel filter, even took it out today and put a new o-ring gasket on the housing, took the intake horn off and put a new gasket thinking maybe that may be bad causing something.  I'm kind of stumped and wondering if I got a dud pump especially where it's been lagging of power from the start. Bought it from a certified Bosh dealer locally

 

Holding 16-18 psi for fuel, electric pump working upon startup until Fuel Boss kicks in, makes no differnce if I have programmer plugged in or not,  Seems to happen more on warm/hot engine although just started happening last night so I haven't got alot of time trying it under different conditions.   I'm puzzled !  Soon ready to put a match to it

I knew there wasn't something right about this pump from the first time I drove it. Discovered today they sold me the wrong pump (16X) . The correct one will be here by Friday
