Posted August 13, 20159 yr Has anyone done this mod? Video makes access look easy, but with the hydro assist brakes not sure. They might also make a good vendor. I'll check that out.
August 13, 20159 yr Did it on my 02 many years back and was fairly easy, did the borgeson steering shaft upgrade at the same time.
August 13, 20159 yr many over on the cummins forum don't like it. seems it makes the steering too tight from what I read.

August 13, 20159 yr I don't remember moving much of anything to get access. It did make the steering wheel stiff at first but that was very short lived.
August 14, 20159 yr Just disconnect the intermediate shaft at the top. Not very roomy in there, not a lot of room to sneak a hammer in there to drive the bushing in. I had to use a small dremel to cut the old bearing out. You will need to sand the inside of the bushing so it's not too tight. I did this multiple times so I didn't sand too much at one time. When I was chasing loose steering years back it did this, come to find out my lower bearing was fine so it didn't improve much of anything for me. I would just disconnect the shaft and wiggle the steering column from the engine bay and see if your lower bearing is bad first.
