Hello it has been a busy summer and want to give an update.  I recently crossed of one of the vehicles I always wanted buy. I bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD. It was a local one owner with 75k on the clock. It is a fun snappy vehicle to drive. Rack and pinion steering with a independent front end sure makes for a nice ride. I wanted something newer for the winter. The '87 Dodge D150 is getting tired and salt has taken its toll.

My dad sold his '98 dodge 1/2T and picked up a '05 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins with a G56-6speed. The parents want to buy a slide in camper when they retire and told me to look for a truck. I kept my eyes open for about 2 years before I found this one at a dealer 15 miles away. It was a local trade from an excavator company, it was the bosses truck. It had 55k and 1900 hours on it. It has newer u joints and ball joints. Had a plow on it for only 2 years. Replaced the belt tensioner due to squeaking, put on a new belt and new crankcase breather. The band on the turbine outlet broke so it got a new one of those too. He plans to put in a PacBrake, rear diff cover, cat fuel filter and it will need an exhaust before too long. That's about it. Trying to talk him into some gauges, we'll see. This thread would not be complete without pictures.

did the 3500 come with that emergency brake or is it aftermarket?

That was an option from a previous Chevy.  Actually the exhaust broke after the cat and blocked the wheels since it was on a hill.  Put a band clamp on for now.

Dave that block of wood is to save the parking brake because you can't tell on a Cummins if you forget to release them. So best to use the block  .

 

Only takes about 10 to 15 miles and you have worn out parking brakes. Don't ask how I know.
