November 1, 20159 yr Owner Pull the alternator wire loose. (Both the charge lead and the field lead). Go for test drive. If it gone then the AC noise is too high. Some meter are not showing correct number vs. frequency.
November 1, 20159 yr Author The first pic at 30 is with the truck running normally and the second pic is of the truck running with the alternator fuse pulled. My meter doesn't read like yours so I wasn't sure. The problem is only intermittently so removing the alt wire most likes wouldn't tell me anything.
November 1, 20159 yr Owner It might... If the AC noise is there it will be disabled and will not have the lock up issues.
November 2, 20159 yr That's showing 27 volts AC! Something is seriously wrong with the truck or your meter, more likely your meter.
November 2, 20159 yr Owner I missed it... I thought there was a decimal in there. Look again he's set to 500V AC scale that meter will not work. You need a meter that starts at 200 mV AC or at least 2V AC.
November 3, 20159 yr Author I checked yesterday again with my buddies and it tested a bit lower than yours did so I guess my problem lies else where.
