January 31, 20178 yr Are you talking a spinning motion or pushing it in/out or up/down? Big difference between all of them!
January 31, 20178 yr What he said^^^^^^^ Rotational play aka gear backlash is normal and would be about right any in and out and or side to side or up and down movement and you have bearings failing or coming loose.
January 31, 20178 yr Author Its rotational play, the in out and side to side is almost zero and no leaks. The pinion seal was replaced and sleeved about 2.5 yrs ago or 15k.
January 31, 20178 yr Sounds like you are good to go, that is normal gear lash aka back lash and is about right. What kind of metal is on the magnet? it is normal to have some very fine greasy type material on it as long as there are no large flakes or chunks you are golden.
