Well where mine is from a 97 model  it dont have the tower thats held on with 4 bolts it uses the style with the shifter stubb that just locks in and currently acceps a square lever and i would have to change the stubb to a angled and thredded style and dont know if that will work or not

That's a problem I'm going to have to say most likely not. As for changing the shift fork lid it might be possible but is it worth it to pull the entire transmission just for a shift lever? Is there a newer version of what you want that you can buy that has the four bolt tower?

Well i can buy a top for it from a couple trans parts plaves however it over $300 the newer style will fit the older no issue was hoping to to save myself $400 for the top and the tower on top of what i will have in the build its self

That's why I suggesting looking to get a newer style lever. That a lot of cash for changing out a shift fork cover and the trouble of just removing the entire transmission just for a shift lever... Wow. Could you give me a picture of what you are working with? I would like to see what you trying to work with.

Yeah I've seen the old style push down and twist locks. Hmmm... Just looking at the two small pictures the bolt pattern looks to be the same for the lid. Be careful the lids are 180* from each other.
