So I get the low battery light otw home, barely make it home with my edge reading 9v. I pull the 2 pin plug on the back of the alternator to check to see if the computer is calling for the alternator to charge. On the hot wire I got 9v,the ground wire I get 40 ohms . Isn't 40 ohms to high for the ground? I figured it should read a lot lower, didn't know if that was why my alternator isn't charging or not.

Has anyone switched alternator types, ND for Bosch?  If you have a 2001 can you use a ND alternator?  I've heard ND's are better alternators than the Bosch.  If you have a ND alternator then Larry B's has a good external voltage regulator.  www.fostertruck.com.

The alternator test for my truck, came back with an error, the test could not continue, as the truck still showed a load when everything was off.  I'm guessing that was from a bad ground.

@thatguy

I have seen where the check gages light can come on for bad alternator, did you get that error?

No I did not. Just check gauges from the low voltage
