I was working on my 96 Ram this past weekend and stepped the parking brake down.  I applied it to where it normally is and then decided to make it a little tighter.  When I did that it went all the way to the floor it didn't release like it normally does.  I checked the cables today none of them are broken.  Took the rear drums off and had some one step on the parking pedal everything moved normally in both drums.   Is there anything in the pedal mechanism that can break.  I'll adjust the rear brakes tomorrow and see if that helps.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Would “starching” make the cables shorter??

I forget the exact details without looking, but there is a catch of some sort up at the pedal end. Mine broke at one point allowing the cable to come out of it's hole.

I hope it's not just my phone that does this :duh:

Cable ends are all attached and the cable is not broken.  I'm going to readjust my brakes this weekend and see if that will help any.
