Edge comp box

Posted

Does anyone here have or know of an edge comp box that is either damaged or for sale cheap? I need the faceplate with the power and adjuster buttons.

My box works but the contact coating on the increase button has flaked off. I tried a product called CaiKote 44 which is a conductive coating for the membrane switch, but getting everything apart and cleaned up has taken the "pop" out of the button. If that makes sense.

There are only four solder connections to remove and replace the faceplate so if I can find one that would simplify this repair.

If that was me I'd use it as an ideal time to fit a Quad

Only saying as I love mine

I also understand the feeling of repairing the impossible

I also understand the cost of a quad is a ouch, mine wasn't far off a £1000 to get to my door here in the UK with our stupid taxes but worth every penny for me

Ya, a quad is in the near future, but right now it's single digit cold out so removing all the edge stuff and installing all the quad stuff isn't going to happen until it's warm. I don't drive the truck much in winter so it's the perfect time to try and fix this box. If not, it's not the end of the world. Box is stuck on 1x1 and works so I can still drive the truck, it's just that the fun settings are unobtainable.

I would just hold out if the Quadzilla if its coming but I woulds consider still get ting it now because of tuning time it will take to dial in. Wouldn't take much more that a few minutes to hook up. The Edge Comp uses the same plugs that the Quadzilla uses. Plus one pyrometer probe install. Way better than the Edge Comp trust me when I went from 27.2 MPG as a high mark then figured out the Quadzilla and bet my own higmark at 28.04 MPG

Like I said, I don't really drive it in the winter as it's an Arizona truck and is rust free. I usually get it out once a month or so to run it a little, but only if the roads are clear and dry. Then I get the hose out and spray it down good.  Just figured if I got lucky and someone had a dead box I could get the faceplate off it. I'll be ordering a quad probably around March and start swapping.

Don't know what happened. I've been driving my truck with the edge stuck on 1x1 as posted earlier. Truck runs well but not very exciting. Yesterday I was driving and truck felt real sluggish. Looked down and the edge was off. Figured it bit the dust completely. Pushed the power button and it lit all five bars. Truck immediately felt fun again. So now it's on 5x? I'm not going to touch it. Don't know what happened but I'm glad it did. Still want a quad, but with having to put so much into the Ford this year, that got put on hold.

Here's to hoping I can enjoy my truck for the rest of the year....🍻🍻🍻

Edge Comp are known for shutting down from extreme cold or heat. Yeah the face controls are known for that issue the little button switches tend to fail.

Shame really that such a simple thing can render such an expensive technical system worthless. Very irritating to say the least.
