Hey guys Where can I buy just the boost adapter and tubing for a gauge ? Also maybe a 'tee' for it ?? In case I wanna run a gauge later (its for my MWI setup 1st) . sizes ?? and is it better too hook up like http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/iat-sensor/iat-sensor.htm next to MAP or with boost bolt like http://www.dieselmanor.com/dm_products/DM-BSTBLT.asp thx

What I did is got an 1/8 90* brass compression fitting from Home depot and drilled and tapped the air horn going into the intake. I see most people do it this way and I've seen others do it the ways Michael has it. It you do it his way use (I Beleive) a 3/4" to 1/8" brass reducer and a 1/8th " brass compression fitting to hook your tubing up to.

With the boost bolt you got to be very careful not to snap it off since the bolt is thin walled. Then the tubing will always be sticking up and everytime you do any work on the truck it going to take the chance of snapping the tubing off... With it in the side of the head it can be routed down and out of the way so it highly unlikely to break the tubing. Kind of like Geno's Garage had a fuel filter lid with a 1/8" NPT tap for fuel pressure gauge... It not very popular because the tubing go damaged from it sticking straight up like mention above. Not to mention you had to remove the tubing everytime to change the filter... :rolleyes:

Yeah I am already going to have 1 or 2 holes in my air elbow/manifold so I think I might go with the side of the map to keep out of way and seperate.

Where can I get those parts - especially the tubing ??? Without buying the whole gauge kit .....

And what sizing/spec is it ? Prefer to pick up locally if napa etc carry it - just cause the shipping wil be more than the parts :)

Just stop in a hardware store for the bushing... (3/4 to 1/8 NPT) As for the tubing get that at NAPA get Air Brake line (1/8") Polyon line. This stuf never breaks or fails...

THERE ARE SOME BOLTS ON THE 12 VALVE engines that can be removed so boost fittings can be installed if a person doesnt want to remove the intake elbow to drill and tap.don't know if/why it would be different than on a 24 valve.:thumbup2:

Does this come s 1piece ..... 3/4 -> 1/8 th is quite a step down .... couldn't find it at home depot ?? :moon:

I did mine in 2 pieces... 3/4 -> 1/2... Then 1/2 to 1/8...

So went to autozone - they didn;t have 1/8h compression or Air Brake line (1/8") Polyon

So ended up with some 1/8th (or smaller:rolleyes:) sunpro compression+nylon tubing kit for $6 I found on rack after guys said they had nothing ........ will have to do ....... should be ok as I am only doing 30 psi.

As for the fitting should be sold at a standard plumbing shop...

now i am know so sure that a person shouldn't use some teflon tape..i have to put it on all the threads that a use out here at the refinery!:thumbup2:

home depot and lowes have the plumbing scattered... in addition to the plumbing section, check the sprinkler section, refrigerator section(ice machine plumbing), and maybe even air tools... you won't find any size smaller than 1/8, so don't waste your time. the best place i have been was midwest hose & specialty.....they fixed(among other things) my bernzo "whip" torch as a walk-in in about 15 minutes. ace hardware, HD, lowes, oreilly's would not touch it. very friendly staff.

Like I said above... The Polyon is sold at NAPA...

Yeah - unfortunately NAPA was closed at 8.30pm ................. so was a drama finding anything else at autozone got the pipe ok in the end - just the compression fitting (1/8) and polyon was a pain :moon:

I used to see that tubing as hydraulic lines running trim tabs on outboard & I/O boats... Nice tubing for suction lines so I kept any scraps from installs.

I found all that stuff at schucks/orieleys. bin of mixed fittings back by the end of the counter, and the tubing is right there with the copper fuel line stuff.

ok. Any ideas on how to join two pieces of tubing together. 1 will be 1/8th comming out of of the boost tap/side of block supplying boost/air. (Hard Plastic polyproplene) The other will be 1/4 or 3/8th (not sure yet) comming out of back of controller (rubber plenum) Guessing I can just thread the small plastic into the rubber tubing off back of controller - but how to make sure it seals ok and holds ? Some ties be enough and something to seal ?? :shrug:
