I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge from another project that I want to use on the 05. I know the port on top of the oil filter housing will work but I'm using a needle valve. It wont fit because there's a hose right next to it. Is there any other port I can use? Thanks,Eugene

What is the purpose of the needle valve on an oil pressure gauge? You can also pull the sender and put a "T" fitting in so that you can have the factory gauge along with the mechanical and both will see the same pressure.

These gauges uses nylon tubing and I just don't trust them so the needle valve is there to cut off flow. Thanks for the suggestion.Eugene

Nylon tubing has been used for years without issue. Even if it did spring a leak you could shut the engine down long before you could open the hood and shut the valve.

If you worried get some polyon air brake line and hook it up... Much stronger than cheap nylon tubing and extremely flexable. post-2-138698172957_thumb.jpg

Thank you. I'll check them out.

What Terry said!!! But isn't there 2 plugged ports on the top of your OEM oil filter housing????

I know there is one plugged port, but that is right off the oil pump. I like using the place that the sending unit is because that is what is left after lubing the entire engine just like the factory gauge.

i thought there was.:thumbup2:

There are 2 ports, one is hidden behind the heater core return line.

I use the port above the ECM for oil pressure on my 05.
