Pull the switch off and push on that button and see if the lights turn on and off. Pull the connector and they should turn off, if that turns them off you got a bad switch.

yea going out to the garage in a bit to lay down upside down under the dash ( my favorite spot to work on my truck anyway )

Sure sounds like a bad switch.

If it is like mine you just grab the switch, turn it about 45* and pull it out. Then there is an adjustment (been a while since I fooled with mine) that you set long and it will self adjust. Just press on the pedal, put the switch back in, and let off the pedal. Real simple once you get to see it.

I did have a bad switch replaced it with one form auto zone for $10 it was very simple to take out and replace once that panel was off
