I bought the stock Jacobs brake for mine... Now like BD and some other have made some serious improvements in design for better hold back compared to the Jocobs. I think it the BD exhaust brake that is got a spring loaded valve that allows for a balancing of pressure at high RPM's but when the RPM's get low the valve closes and allows for improved braking at low RPM's. Compared to Jacobs brake its just got a hole in the butterfly valve for pressure balance...

That is what I have noticed also with my Jacobs. It doesn't seem to be real agressive at low rpms.

That doesn't seem to bother me a bit... I just use the trans to adjust how aggressive I want the exhaust brake to perform... Gear down and make it more aggressive and gear up and make it milder.

That is what I do with my 03 6 speed. I like the jake brake it has not gave me any trouble!
