Hi All,

I recently bought this truck. I checked for error codes to see if there was anything that required my attention. I got 4 codes...

P0753 - 3-4 shift solenoid / trans relay circuit

P0713 - trans temp sensor voltage too high

P1763 - governor pressure sensor volts too high

P1687 - no cluster bus message

I am confused as to why i am getting p0753 because i have a 5 spd manual in the truck. Is this normal any insight on this and any of the other codes would be helpful. Thanks.

Is it possible your truck was an auto in the past? that might explain the codes.

How could i determine that? VIN? i looked up a decoder for the VIN but it didn't specify trans, transaxle or differentials.

Look on the door in the glove box. There should be a sticker listing the trans, diffs and such.

A friend of mine has all the same codes, and his is a 5 speed. Turns out it was a 5 speed swap.

Thanks guys sure enough it was born as an 4 spd auto! Anything that i should be concerned about? i dont know who did the swap or where the tranny came from.

I dont know much about them other than a lot of people have done the swap, but i would think if everything is functioning properly that you would be good to go.

I assume that both the 5spd and 4spd auto use the same computer and instrument cluster circuitry? If so can i alter the programming so it knows it has a manual and it doesn't throw the codes for an auto that isn't there?
