Posted July 10, 201311 yr So I bought one off of a buddy of mine and he had spliced his wire to the vp I want to go with the BD stealth cover is this the right thing to do or should I just splice.
July 10, 201311 yr I had mine spliced. I never had problems with it like that but I would take extra precautions. Such as a di-electric grease, shrink wrap, or a brush on electrical connection sealant.
July 10, 201311 yr Owner My setup. Rock solid and never have to worry about corroded connections, shrink tube, di-electric grease, etc.
July 16, 201311 yr What is the difference in hooking up the Edge EZ and the Edge Comp? I thought they were the same. Didn't think you had to splice a wire for the EZ.'99 QCSB- 5spd, 5" MBRP, FASS DDRP, 2nd VP44, K&N air filter, 252xxx miles
July 17, 201311 yr I have the stealth plateDownside is set screw can backout and no longer full fuel Nicer and cleaner though especially if you change programers a lot like me
July 17, 201311 yr Owner What is the difference in hooking up the Edge EZ and the Edge Comp? I thought they were the same. Didn't think you had to splice a wire for the EZ. '99 QCSB- 5spd, 5" MBRP, FASS DDRP, 2nd VP44, K&N air filter, 252xxx miles Edge EZ is a very mild box. 65 HP worth of power with only 3 levels of control. No wire tap. Edge Comp is 120 HP worth of power with 25 levels of control. Wire tap required for levels 2-5.
July 18, 201311 yr Okay thanks! I guess with my modifications I will just go with the EZ.'99 QCSB- 5spd, 5" MBRP, FASS DDRP, 2nd VP44, K&N air filter, 252xxx miles
July 18, 201311 yr Owner Take a peek at my signature and you'll see what I've done for 400 HP truck and doesn't take a bunch of modification to do.
July 18, 201311 yr Owner Looking to get a better intake next. Not really needed... The stock 3" pipe exhaust and the stock intake horn will support daily driver 400 HP without any problems.
July 18, 201311 yr Owner '99 Dodge Ram 2500 QCSB- 5spd, 5" MBRP, FASS DDRP, 2nd VP44, K&N air filter, 252,xxx miles You could downgrade to 4" exhaust to reduce noise... Get a BHAF and throw the K&N in the trash... Do you have gauges? If not get some... Southbend or Valair clutch... Might have to upgrade from the FASS DDRP to full FASS 150... RV275 injectors or +50 Injectors...
July 21, 201311 yr You could downgrade to 4" exhaust to reduce noise... Get a BHAF and throw the K&N in the trash... Do you have gauges? If not get some... Southbend or Valair clutch... Might have to upgrade from the FASS DDRP to full FASS 150... RV275 injectors or +50 Injectors... Everything is understandable except the conversion from a 5" to a 4"... The more flow the better I thought? I guess seeing as though the DP can only be a 4" because of space, its truly not a 5" system.
July 21, 201311 yr Owner 5" down to 4" is a noise reduction and there is actual no need for 5" till well over 500 HP. Your no where near that. I'm still running 3" exhaust and getting better MPG than you are most likely. Exhaust size is mostly for racing. 3" Exhaust is still capable of touching as a maximum of 25-26 MPG and everyday towing also 3" is rather very quiet even without a muffler. Daily driving for me to give you idea of flow. I've typically see 2-3 PSI on the highway at 55 MPH and towing maybe 7-10 PSI. Absolutely no EGT's problem even towing.
July 22, 201311 yr Noise is fine with me lol. Not worth buying a new system in my eyes. I'm in the process of gathering the rest. I'll let ya'll know when I'm making "Big Daddy Boost"
