Posted October 19, 201311 yr So that I could get 92ft# of torque I wrapped an old serpentine belt around the new Fluidampr and clamped it with a pair of vice grips so the motor wouldn't spin :thumb1:Push one way Pull the other... Worked like a charm
October 19, 201311 yr Good idea. Thats why I like the manual. 1st gear and parking brake, motor no turny.
October 19, 201311 yr I have a Cummins engine barring tool that work quite well too. It is even easier, just pop it in the supplied hole in the bell housing with a breaker bar attached to it and it then keeps things from turning on me.
October 19, 201311 yr Doesn't work quite so well on a truck with 450k miles I noticed. Flywheel teeth are so worn down that the barring tool gear pops over them.
October 19, 201311 yr If it's that worn your starter drive is on borrowed time too. Sounds like a maintenance issue to me.................
