Hey guys, Now I know iv'e been over this particular topic before but iv'e come to view some new info regarding lift pumps well new to me anyway lol. So I was vewing some threads on here and came across the Assassin lift pump, and read that these pumps actually increase pressure with RPM's which of course I really liked that, and the fact that there a mechanical pump. Also during my discovery i read that in order to install this pump you have to replace the draw straw. Is this something that absolutly has to be done with this style of pump? My original choice was a Raptor 100 but also viewing some threads on here I discovered that the new owners of AirDog F..... them up so am not sure I want to go that route. And then I found the below from Homestead, and really liked this idea because of the costs. My truck is bone stock, and I dont really plan on towing anything maybe a car, or when I decide to relocate and load all my crap on a trailer and go other than that 95% of the time my truck is empty. Dont really plan on doing any mods to it other than a 4" or 5" exaust although +50hp injectors are appealing to me more, and more lol. Allready got my BHAF installed!!:thumb1: Just trying to figure which one would be best for the cheapest price before my stock LP craps out on me. Bare with me gents! Below is Homesteads post! My "kit" is parts and pieces from Vulcan as well as stuff sourced from a local parts store. The tank module is factory stock, no draw straw at all. The connection to the tank is factory as well. My "big line" actually starts just before the tank itself on the frame rail. The Carter pump is mounted directly below the drivers seat on the outside of the frame rail and feeds the factory filter canister/heater assembly. From there is is "big line" directly into the VP. The pump wiring was extended down to the frame mounted pump using a Vulcan harness but they are simple enough to make.Everything is Push Loc type rubber hose, braided or anything is not needed. Push Loc is cheap and available just about anywhere and way less hassle that braided. I had braided at first, waste of money for this application.I have my stock OEM Carter set up this way, been that way for over 150,000 miles on the same pump. Pressures are 15/16 psi at idle and WOT won't go under 11 psi. Big line from the front of the tank to the VP with only the factory filter canister in the middle.Jeff

Likeoldfords, I like the design of the FASS it seams very similar to AirDogs. However it's a little more than I wanted to spend which is also another reason I was interested in the Raptor 100. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I personally have a Raptor 100. I purchased mine this last spring and its still running strong. I have always run a good filter (Baldwin BF1212) before it and it has always been relocated to the frame rail. I have been lucky in not having the issues that most others have had with theirs and will definitely be looking at a mechanical set up whenever I start having issues. I have heard that the issues have since been fixed but others might not agree. I am perfectly fine with the Raptors as long as you have a good filter before it and its mounted away from the heat and vibration of the engine.

Ok thanks for the filter part#. Yea thanks to everybody's advice and experience on this forum I've been planning on mounting it to the frame with a filter between the tank and the pump along with the "Big line kit" from the filter canister to the vp44. Well looks like I still might go with the Raptor 100 it does come with a 4 year warranty so if nothing else I'll be good for at least the four years! So just out of curiosity why would you change to a mechanical pump? Also I have still yet to buy a fuel pressure gauge. I know I know driving blind right now lol. So regarding the gauge I've never installed one is it difficult? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just keep in mind if you were to step up to an AD100 or the equivalent FASS you will get a lifetime warranty. There's also the added cost of this filter your talking about prior to the Raptor and you may have to buy the fuel line separate as well. Just a little food for thought.JR

Id go the mechanical pump. Its just cool and works. Sump would be neat too as long as you dont 4x4 and have inspections.

Dieselforlife, I didn't realize those pumps had a lifetime warranty I'll have to check into that. Almost makes it with the extra couple hundred dollars. As far as that extra filter between the tank and the pump goes there pretty cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I bought Isspro EVI gauges and the instructions left a little to be desired. I believe Diesel Manor has some good instruction on there website. None of them are difficult to install, though you might be scratching head occasionally. Dont let that bother you however if you run into a problem just ask a question here and it will get answered. I have a bald spot on my head from scratching, but the folks here have always pulled me thru.
