Is there a wiring extension that can be bought that will allow me to install my code reader plug to my dash for easy access? 

i PURCHASE A LONG one for my offroad baja bug, check ebay in got one that was about 5 feet  they have all lengths.

There is all kind of OBDII port extension cords, Y cords, etc. I'm sure a bit of Google time will find what your looking for.
