...I initially got stuck behind the guy as he cut me off pulling out in front of me in a 45mph area of highway. Crap, he took a while to get up to speed and I just knew he was going to have a hay day slowing down! With the way he was squatting, I thought he was using a 1/2 ton! I also thought it was a bumper pull trailer too. Turns out, he did indeed use a 3/4 ton with a gooseneck!

 

Wonder what his plans were? Yikes! I don't even think he was bothered by the load either!

Tires on that trailer look like they are also way overloaded.

I'm betting that's probably about 3 cord there and then plus the weight of the trailer. He probably has around the 4k lb pin weight range. I bet that truck was just cussing him out for doing it!

 

Now, as far as I know, as long as you paid the extra for the plates because you haul over 8800 gvw then other then that, you would be okay? Still have trailer laws to obey, but I dunno. What could DOT have done?

I used to think  that   'buying the extra  tags'  would  get you  by...

 

but   I think  they (DOT)    are starting to look at the little  'sticker'  on the  door post!     If you are overloading the  truck...  it's  not  'safe'...        

What could DOT have done?

 

Pull him over and make him unload the trailer on to vehicle/trailer that can properly haul the load.  If the trailer is over gross weight limit he would be force to unload and reload to proper vehicle. Of course all the owner responsibility to pay all the fees and fines...
