I just changed out a factory lift pump on a 2001 Cummins to a FASS DDRP.  Everything installed tighter, also added a sediment filter in line before the pump.  Cycled pressure through and started the truck right now.  It goes Immediately to 2500rpms and holds there.  Good news is it is showing good pressure at that high rpm, but it is NOT coming down.

is there a reset that needs to be performed, or did something get bumped during install?

Vehicle is equiped with an Edge JWA tuner.  No other mods that i can tell from sight.

Thanks!

I'd consider pulling the tap from the juice and see if that changes anything. I'm stumped.

Check for AC noise at the alternator. More than likely the ECM has taken on damage. But before we condemn the ECM you better check the Alternator AC voltage and check for error codes to see if something else is going on.

So i was able to get it to fire.

I first searched and reset the APPS.

- that seemed to lower the overral rpm showing when it started from 2500 to about 2200.

Next i thought maybe to much air was in the system, so i cracked the injector lines and turned the key a few times till it cycled some fuel.  It did take multiple attempts to get fuel to one of the lines.

Hooked it back up, and it turned over correctly and ran nice the first time.  Seems to be running very well now.

Thanks for the help!

Best regards,

Weird.

Exactly. I would still be mindful of this problem. Air typically is the reverse it prevent it from running. The only thing I know of that creates this high rev idle is a ECM that is having internal issues. I would still check the alternator being its free.

If it ran really rough at 2500 rpm and was really howling I might believe that the air was the primary cause...  Other than that, I agree with Mike and feel its something else.
