After all I read about not messing with the bands, I opted to not touch them if they are still operating good.Only thing I would add to above is: I like to drop the pan, drain, change filter, and refill. Then I unhook the line as above and start the truck. It is helpful to have someone pouring in new oil as it pumps it out. You will see a sudden change in the fluid from the old to the new. At this point shut it off and hook the line back up. Now you can restart it and fill it up the rest of the way. This way you get most of the old fluid out of there!!
  3. This does look good. Thanks! My '06 has had this problem since new. I figured out it is the cable out of adjustment at the trans. It is not adjustable...... I don't know if the cable has slipped in the sheath at the bracket or what. I should just get under there and try bending the bracket. Another symptom of mine is it will not show it's in Park a lot of the time....
  4. I'd really like to get a free spin kit for my '06. I just can't justify the cost of a kit at this point. Sure would be nice though to have 2wd Low range!(If anyone hears of a great deal on one, please yell!!)

I understand trying to meet the lube requirements. I used to use a lot of additives.....I have quit adding any. I just don't put any in at all.Supposedly our pump fuel is a little better than the minimum requirement anyway. Plus we just don't hear of anyone having any problems with pumps failing at least from lube problems......
  6. I say go for it!!I have an '06 with a Jacobs on it. I have a very straight exhaust now and yes you do hear the hissing with the exhaust brake. It only takes a couple of times of using it and having it slow you down to getting to liking it and not worrying about the hissing.......

I agree with John, you want to stay with a good paper element!! I was having trouble with mine and my filter minder would always max out (Indicating plugged filter!) so I went with a very large element. It is so large to get it in there I had to move that battery over to the drivers side. If you want I could search for a pic of it to put up here.My theory on filters is: The larger in paper the better! Better air flow and also better filtering ability. I too have great OA numbers. All the research I did online showed that all the 'after market high flow' filters let much more dirt into the engine. All of them!!! Now a lot of people claim they have run some of them a lot of miles but the way I look at it is, the cleaner I can keep my engine then the longer it has to last!!
  8. Shouldn't he be out of rubber by now!! . . . . LOLDo let us know how this worked out.

To really know what the rpms will be you need to use a spreadsheet like this one: http://www.klenger.net/RVing/Towing_Dodge-CTD/general-reference/gear-speed-calculator.pdf This guy has done a really good job over the years of keeping up with changes Dodge has made in transmissions and gears. It is a really useful calculator to bookmark!!
  10. That's awesome info!! Thanks for posting it for us Brian! It really is good to know. (I have to wonder if this isn't what's wrong with my 'Meg'......)
