  1. Thank you. that is what I thought as well. I wasn't happy about them charging me as well for nothing. I have my own scan tool that is capable of reading and clearing codes. Not sure this warranty company is going to pay for anything anyway. They have since stated the DTC are only warnings and that they will not replace the turbo until it actually fails. They said replacing the turbo now is considered maintenance and not covered under warranty. I'm not likely to ever buy another after market warranty. They are not worth the paper they are printed on. - - - Updated - - - I actually did just that. Once I got my keys from the dealer I checked the tattle tail before I even started it. I walked back into the service center and told them the DTCs had been cleared and that it was done recently after I dropped it off with them. They continue to deny that they erased it and want me to believe it must have been the inspector. They would not come out to witness its current status. I will most likely go elsewhere than my local stealership.
  2. Does anyone know if the ECM can reset itself or must that be done by a person? I recently took my 08 Dodge 3500 in with a turbo code P2579. The dealership read the code and said it needed a new turbo. Luckily I still have about a month left on my aftermarket warranty. However, when the warranty inspector showed up he said he could find no DTC and the CEL was off so no new turbo. This sounded fishy to me so when I picked it up from the dealership I plugged my reader in and got these to values " time since DTC cleared" = 12 minutes and " miles since DTC cleared" = 6 miles (inspector took if for a test drive). Seems to me that either the dealership inadvertently erased the code or the inspector did. I'm not aware to these two values being reset by the ECM if the code in no longer sensed. The dealership told me to take it home and bring it back if the code came back on (of course they charged me $86 just to read the code). I feel like I'm just getting the run around until my warranty expires. Anybody have any insight into the inner workings of my ECM?
  3. Wrong area. Moved to powertrain forum.
  4. Unfortunately I just bought it with 200K miles. I added a 3 month warranty on powertrain as that is all I could get with a truck with this many miles. If it pops the code again I'll try to take it in. I drove it pretty hard and used the engine brake a lot and the code has not come back yet. I wish I knew the history. I think I will call my dealership tomorrow and see if they can give me the history based on the VIN. I would also like to know what software version I'm running on the ECM.
  5. I'm not aware of any alterations since I just got this truck a month ago. I plan to check the wiring to the sensor based on the P2579 code. It has happened only when doing very short trips around town which made me think it might be getting gummed up in the turbo. Thank you for the response.
  6. I agree. You need to fix this sooner than later. Pumps are designed with inlet an outlet pressures in mind and any deviations can cause poor pump performance to complete failure.
  7. Has anyone seen a P2563 code thrown on a 08 Dodge Cummins? My truck just threw it last night and from what I can find out it looks like a GM code relating to the Turbo. I have had the P2579 code about a month ago as well. Any thing I need to do here to protect the Turbo?
  8. I remember the Mt St Helens ash as well when I was living in SD. I'm glad we do not see that too often. Hopefully we will get some good rains around the West and put these fires out sooner than later. However, I don't think the farmers around here want any rain until they get their harvest in. Can't please everyone I guess.
  9. Wild and FreeHere in MT there are breathtaking as well but for a different reason, hard to breathe with all that smoke around us.
  10. Do you have a large amount of debris in your fuel? This amount of pressure drop across the filter seems excessive for that short time. I know when my truck stopped fuelling correctly I found it was actually the lift pump in the tank that was losing power.
  11. Thanks. I'll try that next time I have time to work on it. - - - Updated - - - Has anyone heard of codes stacking in the computer. The light has been on for about a year. I pulled the same TPS code when the CEL first came on but the truck still runs fine. Didn't know if I have like 100 codes on the same error stored on top of each other. Seems unlikely to me but thought I would ask.
  12. Thank you for this suggestion. I'll check their website out. Do you mount them yourself or take them to someone?
  13. Anyone have a good suggestion for a gravel road tire? Our gravel roads just chew them up. I'm lucky to get 15K miles on a set of tires before I get rock breaks that cannot be repaired.
  14. I have a P0122 TPS code on my 99 Cummins that I cannot get my scanner to clear. When I read the codes it was listed 4 times - twice for confirmed and twice for pending. I told it to clear all codes and I still have one confirmed and one pending remaining. I've tried several times but it won't clear. Any ideas would me helpful. - - - Updated - - - My reader is an ACTRON 9575.
  15. Sounds like a bad connection to me as well. Either in the plug itself or in the wiring leading up to it. Did you get it fixed yet? Sounds like it is at least powering up the tool but not communicating correctly.
