  1. A little high especially at cold idle. I would try 2 quarts of 5-30 mobile 1 and 3 quarts of 15-40 or 15-50 mobile 1. They will mix and bring oil pressure down some mainly while cold. I put a 302 ford factory remanufactured engine in my 68 and it came with recommended 15-40 shell rotunda for diesel for cam breakin. Also anything that will keep a diesel clean is good so that is what I use.
  2. Remove the filler cap/dipstick from the reservoir. Withdraw without spilling the fluid using "fluid removal tool," Dispose as per applicable procedure for hazardous material, the spent fluid that you removed.Next, fill up to the recommended mark the reservoir. Take care of the "cold" or "hot" marked on the dipstick and accordingly fill up to the required mark. Now start the engine and move the steering for a few times from left to right a couple of times. On having done this make your final check of the level. This gives you the final level to which the fluid has settled.
  3. I personally use permatech Hi Tack sealer where its required on mating surfaces as they don't ever harden, so in the odd chance some falls off into the oil pan it shouldn't clog an oil jet.Any other opinions on that? Whenever I take off a stamped steel cover Ill take a file to the mounting surface to check for and high spots. A small body hammer with a dolly works great.

I have a SGII and get very good mpg. But I have never used the gauge's display of instant mpg. You KNOW what it takes to get good mpg, and you train yourself in those driving habits, situation by situation. Just use the minimum throttle and rpms to get you where you are going. Looking at a gauge will not do it.
