  1. Haha sorry for the long absence. Sadly, I had to sell my truck. My new job/location made it almost impossible to drive except for very rarely and I just couldn't see having so much $ tied up in something I could barely use. I got 14k for though :-) hoping to own another in the near future, maybe a new one though. I often get to drive a 2016, 4 door, long bed, daully at work and that thing is amazing! It tows like a dream and the factory exhaust brake is wonderful!!
  2. Be careful, I did the same thing when I did the upgrade, but realized very quickly that wasn't the only clearance issue. The passenger side of the tie rod was much fatter than the old one. It knocked off the wheel weight and started machining a groove lol. This was with the Mopar kit, so depending what parts you used, may not be an issue.
  3. Very interesting! Unfortunately I don't often get above 1000°. I don't have a trailer to pull around most of the time lol. I do get the rpms up pretty good sometimes though
  4. Just something to keep in mind if using a timer or only plugging for an hour or so, my trucks coolant temp didn't get above 90° even after being plugged in all night IIRC. Maybe a little over 100°, but the point is, if your in really cold weather, plugging in for an hour, or even a few hours doesn't do a whole lot. Just my opinion and findings of course.
  5. I haven't used it yet, I was planning to use up what 2 stroke I have left, but I don't drive my truck as much now so that will take quite a while. I also have some amsoil stuff that I decided to try and use up. I'm wanting to get away from the 2 stroke because I'm getting the idea that it's not so good for guys who don't work their trucks very hard. I thought that a couple 10 mile drives per day were enough, but I'm not sure that's the case anymore, so I will be going with optilube XL when I finish the amsoil stuff I have.
  6. It certainly could be weak batteries, but I really hope not because they are napa golds and less than 2 years old....at this point, I'm not really concerned because the difference in starting isn't much, and my truck also sits a lot right now so that may play into the equation as well. I agree though, it's very interesting to hear how everyone's truck is different!
  7. This is an interesting discussion. My truck will generally start better without the grids down to 40 or so. Like if I forget to switch off mpg mode and start it, it will fire off quicker than if I let the grids run. May get just a bit of white smoke, but not the slightly slower/longer cranking I get after the grids run. I guess that's just because of how much they draw on the batteries.... On a slightly different note, I will plug in every chance I get if temps are below freezing, and I'm even running synth 5w-40. I don't agree with what some say about spoiling the truck and I figure why cause any more wear then necessary on a cold start? I'll save it for those rare times when temps are in the negatives and I can't plug in
  8. Thank you for the insight! I'll most likely be going with 7x .009 VCO's so hopefully that will be ok. I am still thinking/researching though so I do appreciate the input!

  10. Well reading through this thread gave me quite a few good laughs! You guys are great @notlimah did you also look into the Optilube XL? I found a chart on their website that outlines the differences between all of their products and based on it, I will be going with the XL when I order some in the near future. I found a guy on CF a while ago saying he was new to his 3rd gen asking for advice about adding ATF. There were a bunch of comments but none telling him to stop adding ATF. So, I jumped in and said I didn't think it was a good idea an I was surprised no one else had mentioned it yet. A few guys then agreed with me, but more than a few jumped in saying I was dead wrong and how wonderful ATF is and how it fixed their injectors, blah blah blah. Didn't make any sense to me, but I try not to start wars and really don't know all the facts so I just backed down lol just found it to be very odd
  11. I don't know anything about the batmowheels, but i looked into the wicked wheels and found them to be expensive, very little if any better as far as air flow, and I heard that they have come apart....maybe I've been misinformed. Do you have experience with the wicked wheel?
  12. No I don't have a link. Just something I read somewhere recently. I'll try an see if I can find it again. I just did a little digging on the subject and it seems I must have just read someone's personal opinion before. From what I fond this morning, it sounds like Holset has said it makes no difference and is an option. Guess thats one less thing I need to do lol
  13. Lol wow. I don't think I'm smart enough to build my own like @Me78569 either lol
  14. Sounds good thank you!
  15. Hmmm interesting. Do you have a source handy for a genuine wheel and silencer ring? And what about balancing if I put a different wheel on? That was another reason I had though of for buying another...keeping the wheel on its original core...and I'd really hate to go through all the work of removing and rebuilding without replacing the wheel... i already have the rebuild kit, and I actually kinda want to do the rebuild if only for the experience. Otherwise I would buy one from you. I saw your ad on CF and thought about it. Wow that is a lot less than I expected! Right now though I think I'd like to keep things simple. I know I can always go back to smarty for a quick spool if the injectors don't do it, and I assume the quad could be tuned to help as well. I guess right now I just need a good source for holset parts... and of course to get my injectors ordered and installed. Problem is the truck isn't my only hobby right now....trying to buy more guns and do more shooting lol
  16. Doesn't all that get pretty expensive though? I'm kinda short on funds, don't really wanna make this any more complicated or expensive than it needs to be lol
