  1. I'm thinking its the FRRP lift pump back-bleeding, I'll know more when the Airdog guys get back to me, as for the lines on top of the tank, they are good....didnt check the vent tho, good call! and the injection lines are definitely tight!
  2. update: talked with one of the guys from Airdog over at Cumminsforum.....well, I sent him a PM, I got one back from both the rep I talked to and another guy at Airdog, gave 'em a call the next day and left a message, haven't heard a word back....not horribly satisfied with customer service at this point, but they do make good products....mostly! from what little info I got from them and much digging on my own, the first raptor FRRP pumps were back-bleeding and sucking air into the fuel lines (teach me to trust a brand name and not look into a product! shoulda known better...) they came up with some little ball thingamabober that fixes this issue..... but I don't have one yet.....soooo, if/when I hear back from the rep and get one coming, I'll letcha guys know how it goes....other than that, the FRRP is awesome!! adjustable PSI, it came from the factory with 25PSI, I backed it down to 20, I lose about 3-4# at WOT...now if i can just keep it from back-bleeding air into my lines, I'll be happy as a clam!!!
  3. AWESOME!!! I knew it would bolt up! I mean, they use fuller trannys in ISB's soooo.....alright, I'm gunna need on board air, I should probly throw some different gears in the diff and beef up the flywheel and what not while I'm in there, anything else you can think of off hand? Any idea if a small case would fit under it without chopping the floor? I liked the idea of the double over drive and of having a tranny thats way over rated but if i don't have to hack away at my floor boards, the 7 speed aught to be tough enough....I don't want to deal with this again...EVER!!
  4. yup, a fuel rated teflon tape, the same stuff we use to hook up our kerosene and heating oil tanks....wish it were somethin like that dang it!! thanks, good call though! --- Update to the previous post... also, how the heck is air getting into the system and diesel NOT leaking out.... I'm no nuclear physicist, but that doesnt seem to be plausible....I've almost convinced myself there is something else going on here, but there is, without a doubt air in the lines.....AAAAHHHHHH!!! :banghead:
  5. well, I've wanted a manual since day one, but the price tag on the truck I got with an auto was hard to pass up....now that my 47re is giving me grief, I'm debating a manual conversion, but I dont really want to dump a bunch of cash into a conversion with an nv4500 or 6500, the 47re can be beefed up to out preform either of the manuals for our trucks, but getting a built auto will put me at about the same price as a manual conversion.....so why not put a tougher manual in it!?!? I did a bit of lookin and can get ahold of a eaton fuller rto 6610 pretty cheap! I'll have to throw some taller gears under it so I can get some speed and fuel economy out of it, and probly have to put a leveling kit to keep the front end from sagging, so it may wind up costing a bit more to go this route, but this way should give me a good, long lasting tranny that is way, WAY over rated....am I way off base here or does anyone else see the benefit of this....I wont lie, I may just be a bit..... any feed back on somethin like this, or if anyone has done/seen anything like this would be appreciated.....I did see a video of a 12v with a 10 sped behind it a long time ago, so i know its possible.....wutcha think?
  6. I went out the other day to start running diagnostics on my 47re but didnt get that far....my air leak issue is back!! truck started fine for a few days, now, im back to bleeding the lines every time I want to start it! I'm at a total loss, every, and I do mean EVERY connection has been checked, all the banjo bolt washers have been replaced, now with the last tear down of the system all the o-rings have been replaced including the ones between the drain valve and filter housing....the only thing I can come up with now is my raptor FFRP is somehow sucking air into the system....if I kill the truck, I can pop the drain valve on the filter housing or depress the test port on the fuel inlet line to the vp and I have fuel instantly, if I let the pump cycle first, I get an air pocket.....has anyone heard anything like this? I LOVE the pressure the FFRP gets me and the ability to adjust the pressure from the LP but c'mon, this is getting old!! anybody know something I dont? thanks guys! :banghead:
  7. i did a band adjustment on the trans this mornin.....its still having a hard time shifting out of first but has shifted a few times, and its also trying to hang up coming out of second now....?? i dont want to get the bands too tight and have em burn up, but should i put a little more tension on em? and would the front or rear band cause this? thanks!!
  8. i usually open 1,3,4 and start closing them up as they start to bleed....sometimes i gotta get 5 cracked too and ya might have to....i typically crank until one of em starts to bleed, but no more than about 30 seconds, then tighten it up and crank again till the next one bleeds and so on....she will fire, just keep crankin!

yup, i do this all the time, even just drifting around corners and what not....my friends all think I'm just goofing off, but when i hit a slick spot I regain controll pretty quick.....when they hit ice they go in the ditch!!
  12. well said sir, thank you for sharing!
  13. ouch!! sounds exactly like what happened to my friends truck, the thing started stumbling one day, the next massive power loss, wasnt any oil though....long story short, he dumped some 50 horse injectors into it and the thing runs great....he found some really cheap injectors but i dont remember what they are or where they came from so ill try and get the name, memory serves they were like half the price of all the other injectors i have looked at!
  14. i live in Alaska, mine does this all the time, when it hits the -30's mine takes forever to warm up and get going, it doesnt hurt anything and its normal
  15. the OEM pumps really arent worth trying to fix, and as far as i know they dont make a refurb kit....the cheapest OEM style pump i have found was about $180.00 and for the extra $80.00 or so, you really should consider getting a raptor, they arent the most expensive but i love mine....
