  1. Here is a few pics of a upper rod bearing from a QSK. Was at Cummins Npower for X15 qualification and the trainer had this on his desk. That's a damn big bearing compared to the ones I usually play with. I put my tin of chew for size comparison ?
  2. No do not put dielectric grease in the ecm connector cavity, your asking for problems there that's why there is a rubber seal in the engine harness plug to keep water/debris out. Cummins will tell you exactally that. The connections need to be clean and dry no foreign material at all in the ecm connections including dielectric grease. Seen it plenty of times at work ecm plugs packed full of that crap lots of connection issues. Cleaned them out and they go away. That's my two penny's on the deal.
  3. And when I say dyno I don't mean run a hard pull and measure torque hp # style run. The rollers are loaded and it's a steady run for a period of time to simulate real world working conditions.
  4. Find a place that has a dyno. Might cost a few bucks but it's cheaper than a tow. That's what we do at work after a overhaul. Put the truck on the dyno run it to break it in and make sure it's a-ok before the customer gets it.
  5. Mine squeaks when I shut it down. All of the Cummins trucks my grandfather had (6) have squeaked whenn shut down too. I even hear it in some of the medium duty trucks that come in to work that have the isb in them. I figure it's just normal lol if the belt squeaked all the time while running I'd go insane
  6. Been leaning towards a BW s300 frame got to narrow it down 100% yet but at minimum gotta be at least 62mm on the compressor side. Thinking a 62/65/12 is what I'll go with. Trans wise is stock in the truck currently but I'm gathering parts to build the one I have in my garage. I know I should probably wait to put it all together at once (turbo, trans, injectors) but I'm impatient and I don't listen to my better judgement sometimes. I'm really the only one who drives it so I guess if I do have the injectors in and the stock trans craps out I can only be mad at myself. The wife don't drive it so can't blame her lol
  7. ivw been doing a bit of reading on turbo selection for larger injectors since I bought the 7x.0105s I have and from what I have read the smoke and egts can be easily managed with non wire tapped tuners and a stock turbo with mindful driving. All what I've read said that as long as you don't drive like a dope mashing it to the floor it all the time it can be driveable without melting down. I've not installed my sticks yet because of being so busy but I plan on throwing them in before I get a larger turbo just cause well I can't stand looking at them sitting in the box anymore. I'm definitely not letting anybody but myself drive it until I buy a bigger turbo. My injectors are vco by the way. Got them for a steal of a deal is why I went with vco's.
  8. Yeah the 68 will light a tad bit higher in the rpm range but I think would still be very tolerable for towing. Do they offer any it the aforementioned turbos with a 12cm exhaust housing? Or just 14?
  9. I would say the 62/68 or the 62/65. the 62/65 might spool just a touch quicker.
  10. I've never had puffballs, I'll have to see where I could find some. Plenty of spots where I deer hunt I'm sure. It's a mixture of hard wood and coniferous with a little bit of marsh mixed in spots. I got up this morning and went back and picked some more that grew over night. Going to dehydrate and jar the ones I don't eat.
  11. So I was out cutting my lawn and along the line where the grass meets the woods I saw what I thought to be a morel mushroom. So I stopped and went to look next thing you know I'm picking mushrooms in my woods. I stumbled across a decent size cache of morels. Ended up with a paper grocery bag full. If you've never had these before ohhh boy are you missing out. They are only around a short period just a few weeks around here and are pretty rare to find. Very sought after and expensive at farmers markets. I sautéed some up just a bit ago in olive oil and minced garlic. Delish?
  12. Should be a metal tag on the diff cover too held on by one of the bolts that has ratio in it I believe, at least on fords there is I guess I've not looked on dodges I'm still new to the whole dodge truck thing. I would assume so because it's a Dana/spicer axle and all the Dana axles I've seen had tags on them assuming they were put back on if the cover has ever been off.
  13. Looks beautiful? The black and silver go together perfect!
  14. Well Bluebird was thirsty. She drank 27 gallons plus the 5 I put in when it ran out, so with that being said I'm going to say the sending unit is off a wee bit?
  15. Is it time to go home yet!!??? I want to fuel up to find out for sure. Got 3 more hours till I close this place up. Slowest day of my life. Hahaha I'm impatient today. That and I'm working on out of frame overhauling a C15 cat my least favorite engines to work on?
  16. Still factory set up haven't installed fass yet no darn time I'm always at work or sleeping. A far as I know it's original but only got 125k on the clock but that don't mean nothing I've changed senders on petes at work with less than 50k that have crapped the bed
  17. Only put in 5 gal to get to the shop going to get fuel tonight and fill it till it stops and I'll find out .
  18. Oh yeah it was a better spot than most to have it happen. Right at the stop light was a double lane so I was in the right lane. I tell ya though people in this world are terrible. Had the 4 ways on and a guy was behind me honked and I waved him around he pulled up on the driver side gave me the bird and drove off. I was like uhhh ok just smiled and waved back at him. Mean while thinking to my self thanks for giving a pinch of sht guy. I always stop to try and help stranded people was just the way I was brought up. Not too many people do that anymore. Which is sad, but it'll all work out in the end for those who look out for their fellow man/women.
  19. Well found out the hard way on my way in to work this morning that when the fuel gauge says 1/4 tank it really means empty?. Never ran it down much past half always keep it topped up but was running late so I figured I'd stop for fuel tonight on my way home. No such luck. I was literally 4 blocks from my shop when it just shut off. Was like what the?? Tried restarting, bumping the key to check if lift pump runs. Check sooo made the embarrassing call to the shop had a tech come with some fuel to get me to the shop. I ain't gonna hear the end of this from my guys for awhile lol.
  20. P1693 is error detected in the ecm. I would check and clean all grounds just to be safe but it seems that there is a error in communication between ecm and pcm. The pcm is not getting the proper information from the ecm causing trans shifting issues. Someone else chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.
  21. Excellent to hear she is up and running again! Always a good feeling hearing it fire up after going under the wrench. I always love the rush/pucker factor lighting up a fresh engine after a rebuild and all is successful it's the same I guess when doing a pump just not as stressful lol. The ears go on high alert picking up the smallest of strange noises, brain even makes up a few sometimes?
  22. Nice! I like the red and black! Looks great
