If I am going to do tie rod ends and steering components
On a stock height, stock tire size 3500 dually do I really need to worry about upgrading to 4th gen parts? or will good aftermarket stock parts hold up another 300k miles?

weather change and few questions
Not seeing any slop in the control arm bushings, just some compression of the spring when I roll the truck back and forth with the tire. I will try and drop the shock bolts out of the bottom this weekend. I did have to push down on the shocks from the top in the hat with the 3 bolts when I put the them back in after removing the level kit, but my ability to hold them down with one hand while putting the nuts on the hat bolts led me to believe they were due for some new shocks.

weather change and few questions
thank you for the reply, couple of questions due to my ignorance is there an easy way to "check the shocks" and "check control arm bushings"? I do see a little play in the tie rod ends by having my wife turn the wheel back and forth a little. Leveling kit was removed when tires were taken off. It is a 2001 so the brakes may have some rust, but yesterday was the first day of rain in months. Thank You again for the help. Brian

weather change and few questions
So pulled the 35's and aluminum wheels off of the truck (got a set of 2017 takeoffs with 300-400 miles), first trip on the freeway and the death wobble started. as I drive the truck daily put a track bar in it the next day. But the front end still feels sloppy, not necessarily in the steering wheel but I can feel every little bump in the floor under my clutch foot when it is resting on the floor. Overall the truck is definitely way better with proper sized tires that it was engineered for. Next, its raining again in seattle, I stop at the grocery store on my way home for my wife, every thing is fine. I get back in the truck to leave, the first time I gently hit the brakes when rolling through the parking lot. I barely push the pedal and it wants to lock everything up. Once I get back up to speed, seems to go back to normal. Is this a common problem? edit: forgot to mention the front sway bar is out, but can't imagine it would make anything feel loose As Always guys, thank you in advance for any thoughts Brian

Wheels and Tire Setup
I just got a set of steel take offs from a 2017 truck. Those wheels look just like my take offs without the simulators. No paint or anything just flat black from the factory. I would send a pic but I currently have the simulators on.

The best riding 2001 dually possible
how about a more modern lower setup for a 4x4 dually? My dads 09 seems to sit lower than mine, though could just be perception I have not measured anything.

The best riding 2001 dually possible
I don't need it to be a cadillac, just best of its potential

The best riding 2001 dually possible
Ok so if I am going to tear into the suspension on my 350k mile truck, I want to improve it as much as possible.. In my old OBS ford that mean at least doing an RSk, etc.... Is there anything I can do for this truck for tremendous improvement? It wouldn't bother me if it made it sit a little lower (modern height 4x4 dually trucks sit pretty low now) Thoughts?

Front main seal
Excuse my powerstroke ignorance, but I am not sure what the tappet cover is
-
Front main seal
So I just got back under it. Is leaking off of the steering box, onto the sway bar and mount and to the ground from there. Its everywhere down there though so assuming its the main getting it onto the pulleys and launching it everywhere. I like the idea of pulling the whole front end off though to fix it. Awesome access and I am sure the radiator is filthy

Front main seal
Ugly job doing the front main? What else can I replace and clean up on my way to the main? Radiator have to come out?

Front main seal
Just got back from towing for the first time with Mike ccv installed. I was hoping no catch can on the ccv was my oil issue on the front of the engine. Just pulled in the driveway and front pumpkin and steering is wet with oil again. Truck hasn't say long enough to see how much I lost in 250 miles but now I am ready to attack this oil leak which I am assuming its the front main. Any advice on confirming that or thoughts on anything else it could potentiality be? Brian

Wheels and Tire Setup

EGT's after the turbo
I didn't know I was supposed to ever take the firewood out????

EGT's after the turbo
I have stock injectors and an Edge Comp that is not tapped, I can't imagine I am over fueled unless I am lugging the crap out of it. I will keep the RPMs up and keep an eye on it. Do you guys like the greased bit? magnet on the tap? engine running, vacuum, all of the above for drilling and tapping the manifold? :-)

EGT's after the turbo
Where in the exhaust manifold do you guys put the probe? What method do you feel is best to keep from filling the turbo with metal flakes from drilling the manifold?
-
EGT's after the turbo
****, (excuse my french) the truck is running 600* down the highway empty currently... hmmmmm
-
EGT's after the turbo
EGT gauge is back up and running, however, the probe is after the turbo. In my previous trucks I have been in the exhaust manifold, and 1200* was the peak I ever wanted to see.. My question is, because I can't move the probe before towing this week/weekend. What temp would you guys say is a conservative number to stay at or below? Thank you

Is there a bird in my truck?
Sounds like worn mounts/bushings
-
Is there a bird in my truck?
What did you use to lube it? Seems worse when I have 12000 lbs behind her
-
Is there a bird in my truck?
What (besides my horrible leveling block, worn out shocks, 35" rock hard tires) is causing the interior squeaks that sound like a bird chirping? Seems like its on both sides of the cab, definitely more than one isolated location. any ideas?

2000 Dodge cummins 24 valve vaccum hose
It was hvac. I am not familiar with CAD. I fixed it tonight and now the vent changer does what it should.

2000 Dodge cummins 24 valve vaccum hose
I have a broken vacuum line right above the stock lift pump on the firewall, I have been meaning to fix it, what all does the vacuum play a role in? I am guessing mine has to do with the HVAC as my zones (Defrost to Face vents) takes FOREVER to change over..

Worth trying....Olive Oil on truck.
I wiped on, and wiped off all excess with a clean dry rag, doesn't seem to have any dust attraction
