  1. How was SW2? If you recall. I only had access to the datalogger for a short time so I can't check myself. However, how does it adjust timing? I can't say I've noticed any difference in sound between the different settings, both with or without timing added. Usually there's a noticeable difference in sound if it adds timing, where you get a horrible timing rattle with aggressive timing. Can't say I've noticed any extra rattle or it running any different. **EDIT ** Removed double post, phone had a hiccup.
  2. I also run a S-03, I ended up on SW5, with Torque Management at 1, Duration at 1 and Timing at 3 because I run bigger injectors; according to the Smarty website, that's the timing setting for bigger injectors. The throttle response feels natural, but I'm thinking of getting a proper datalogger of my own to see what it's doing, since it usually will command like 18* of timing with really heavy fuelling as stated above, and that's not really wanted. I've been doing high power diesel mercs for quite a few years and the Bosch M-series pump in those are reminiscent of the P-series found in the 12v, and in those engines we'll usually set the timing around 12-14* which seems to work just fine for 500+whp, but that's static, so if you floor it on low RPM's it's a timing rattle out of this world. Hence, I can't imagine in my wildest dreams that heavy fuelling at 18* would be any better
  3. Holy crap dude, that's wild Thanks guys! She's ever so slightly rough around a few edges, but I'm getting the lower half of each side resprayed sometime this summer, and a badly fixed dent on the rear right corner fixed properly at the same time. New taillights are on their way in the mail I found some bits of 8" stainless that I can extend the tip with, so it's 8" all the way to the axle, that way, it looks better from behind
  4. Gave the "Big Red" a wash yesterday and snagged a few pics after! Don't mock my huge exhaust tip, I'm going to rework that, sometime.
  5. Yeah dude, I think it's like a unison thing all around the world I'm having a look into the lights there this weekend methinks, I'm going slightly crazy not indicating Thanks man! Yeah I've recommended the forums to my mates who also have mopars
  6. Thanks man! My entire rear end turns into a party whenever I indicate, so for now I'm going to enter BMW mode and not indicate at all
  7. Thanks man! I'll add some more pics tomorrow, maybe I'll try to solve the electrical issues as well
  8. Oh man, maybe it isn't all bad then
  9. Yeah there's a few 2nd Gens about here. They're ridiculously pricey though, at least the Cummins powered ones. I paid about $17k for mine.
  10. Hey all! I've already made a few posts, but it's never too late to introduce myself, methinks. I've been successfully breathing consecutively now for 22 years, and somehow figured that the right way to go in life was to become a mechanic, specializing on construction equipment, like wheel loaders and such. I wanted a 2nd gen Dodge for years, but couldn't allow myself to get one due to Northern rural Norway being a crappy place to commute in, hills, turns and stuff, but I started my own company two years ago, and finally, about six months back, I sold off my 2014 Nissan Navara D40 and bought a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport (with an R/T badge in the grille), a Canadian import with a odometer in KM's and a speedo where the main dial is also in KM/H, woo! It's done about 191k miles, but runs like a clock. This is the list of things I did to it at 174mi, right after buying it: New VP44, new steering box, BD Power's Steering box stabilizer, rebuilt the gearbox with new clutches and friction bands, flushed and cleaned out the trans cooler+lines, BD Power SuperB turbo, BD Power +100 Injectors, uprated single disk billet converter and a AirDog Raptor 150 lift pump and a Smarty S03, previous owner did the wheel bearings on all four corners, all new brakes in the rear, brand spankin' new propshafts and track bars. The result is a 19 year old truck, feeling very tight and nice, the steering is ACTUALLY precise, unlike my dads Econoline 350, where you have to do a lot of steering to go in a straight line. It's currently sat on some nasty stock chrome rims, with studded tires wrapped around them, but there's some 35s and 18" rims headed its way to improve the looks a bit. I don't take too much pictures, so there's just the one to choose from at the moment, I'll snag a few tomorrow when I'm out and about in the daylight. Also, if anyone could shed some light on the "R/T" badge in the nose, I'd love to hear it. I thought that was a Dodge Charger thing. **EDIT** Nevermind the R/T thing, I did a really quick google and found that it's most likely just the badge that someone's put there at some point for laughs or looks.
  11. Right, my Dodge has developed another minor issue, I'm starting to remember why I bought a nearly brand new car in the first place. Anyway, the issue is this: My brake lights, seem to alter the indicators, indicating. For lack of a better way to explain it, usually you have the indicators going "tick tick tick", but when I press the brake pedal they go "tick.............tick...............tick", there's a pretty long pause between flashes. As the indicator in the instrument panel stays veeery dimly lit between flashes, I assume it's a ground issue somewhere, something, somewhere, is grounding where it shouldn't. I'm suspecting one of the taillights, perhaps, because this happened maybe a day or two ago, and it was sort of intermittent, but today it seemed like it was more permanent. So, before I go absolutely nuts with the multimeter and start ripping harnesses apart, I thought I'd check in and see if anyone knows of a particular issue or where it usually goes wrong, when it goes wrong. **EDIT ** Went out and had a peek while it was indicating left, and it dims all the other lights apart from main front beam, fogs and the right park light up front. The rear driving lights, and the license plate lights dim as the indicators flash
  12. I once got an engine into my shop where the owner had used loads of RTV and it had amongst other things, clogged the oil feed to the turbo so I kinda try to stay away from it, but when I do use it it's just a thin layer.
  13. I mean, your best bet is probably to try to carefully pry it off and get it all right, use a little bit of RTV in there and she'll be fine.
  14. Oh? Nice. It'll be down the line though, just got in some 35s and 18" rims, which set me back a bit.
  15. In other words then, I'll be dropping some cash in on PDD's site or Goerend's site to beef the drivetrain up even more. Oh boy.
  16. I'm thinking about the drivetrain, specifically the gearbox and converter though, in terms of reliability. It's decided, anyway, I'm going for a Quad. While we're on the subject of tuning and various performance parts, what do you guys think about the ever so loved Banks High Ram and Monster Ram intake elbows? I've seen a lot of youtubers swearing by them and whatever, but I'm just sat here shaking my head looking at the pricing and the incredible description Banks have produced for this bit of cast aluminium or whatever it is. It looks cool, yes, and I want one, I'll admit that, but only because my truck is red and it'll look good whenever I pop the hood, I can't imagine in my wildest dreams that it'll actually produce a noticeable difference in power or response
  17. Yeah, they're not quite "there" The Quadzilla and Edge tuners are to be considered pretty much as "piggyback" ECM/ECU's? Without reading too much into it, I gather that you have to tap a few wires with both to get the desired effects from that kind of tuner. I'd love to get somewhere around 350hp out of this thing, not wanting to take it too far because reliability, which it seems a Quad would do easily.
  18. Coming from Europe, I'll have to break out the conversion units here! Only 21lbs though? That ain't gonna do it, even my old 80s diesel Merc would do better than that. Sad to say, nobody's thought of adding any instruments, no EGT gauge, no boost gauge, no trans temp. I've ordered some fancy-pants AEM gauges that'll look good in my A-Pillar. I feel like a bit of an idiot here, didn't check the boost graph when I put logging on it, all I wanted to know if this Smarty fuel delivery madness was true and how it reacted to different settings, didn't even think to check the boost graph in fact I'd assume it does boost fooling, however. I was leaning towards the Quadzilla, as it's my impression that any PnP tuner won't really work well with bigger injectors without complications, so to speak. I'll have no issue perfecting a tune, at least if there's a decent basemap in there first, which there seems to be? I've looked around on their website and there seems to be a LOT of different tunings to choose from.
  19. First forum post, hey y'all! So I'm looking into getting a new tuner for my Cummins, but it's quite the jungle out there, I've come to find. I see the guys over at PowerDriven Diesel use the Quadzilla Adrenaline tuners, and I kinda trust that lot with all the R&D they put in these engines, but would it be the right tuner for me, is the question? I'm not looking for a tuner that'll supply me with a million horsepower and enough torque to rotate the earth backwards if I launch it too hard in 4WD, but something that'll add around 100-150hp. Having that said, I already have a Smarty S03, and I read elsewhere on this forum that it fuels weirdly, requesting 100% fuelling at 40-50% throttle, which sparked my interest so I went over to a mate, ran off with his datalogger and had a look, and lo and behold, it fuels really aggressively. No wonder it feels like you have LOADS of low end and then some, all while just lugging and flooding the turbo. I don't feel like the Smarty is what I want, I want a bit more grunt than the Smarty can provide and am open to suggestions. That said, I'm also unsure of how much power my truck produces, the previous owner handed over receipts for everything he'd done to it. It's a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport, with the 24v 5.9 Cummins and the dreaded VP44, luckily that's nearly brand new, so there's that. It has 100hp BD Diesel Injectors, PN 1075823 BD Diesel SuperB Single Turbo Kit, PN 1045220 AirDog Raptor 150 lift pump Uprated billet single disk converter 47RE with shiftkit, rebuilt not too long ago with Alto "Red Eagle" friction bands and clutches. Running it at the moment on the Smarty S03 SW#5 with some more sensible Revo settings. Anyone willing to estimate the power output of this thing? I'd reckon closer to 300hp, but who knows. I'm also curious what they mean when advertising injectors as "+100hp" injectors, because surely, just swapping injectors won't add power? Unless you compensate with more air and fuel delivery?
