  1. I read in a thread on CF that the plastic style drain valve on the water separator that comes on Airdogs does NOT drain water; and that Pureflow has recently switched to a metal drain valve in order to solve this problem. I was wondering if any of you had heard of this, and if it's a prudent move to get a new water separator with this new style drain valve on it?
  2. A little pricier, but you can have them shipped to your door... http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQDodgeQQRam_2500QQCentricQQBrake_Caliper_Repair_KitQQ20012007QQCE143-dot-67005.html?apwcid=P1135867996W43b3f85c7ab9e&gan=1&apwidWXLSG2U&AID=896329&PID=3193464&cj=1
  3. Just what I needed!
  4. This may be a dumb question, but I want to rebuild my calipers and am hung up on how to get the pistons out of the caliper. Do you just pull the o-rings and then pop the pistons out?
  5. Thanks for the replies guys! My outerwares already has a hole rubbed through it thanks to the ac hose (?), but considering how much dirt is on it, I figure it's still doing it's job of prolonging the life of the bhaf.
  6. I was wondering what all you guys with outerwares on your bhaf's do to clean them? I was just gonna wash it out with some water, let it dry, and put it back on. Is this correct?
  7. I didn't even go looking for the casting number on mine. It was when I was rebuilding my front end I happened to glance up and there was a big ol' 55 staring back at me, was pretty stoked when I saw that!
  8. Yeah right now I'm rocking the "high idle stick", or more precisely, the "high idle scraper" lol I would like to get the high idle flash done as well as an exhaust brake as I've seen that that does wonders as far as warm up times. Unfortunately all this costs money!
  9. Thanks for the replies and clearing that up. It just struck me as odd that all of our equipment idles so much and then to read that it's bad for the motor. Guess I'll bump up the idle to make em rev more, still learning about how diesels work!
  10. You said the rear brakes were far gone, but have you checked the front brakes? The only thing I could think of is your brakes are dragging, if not fronts, maybe the e-brake??
  11. I've been reading that the Cummins engines in our trucks, when idling in cold weather, get buildup in the cylinders from an incomplete fuel burn; causing all kinds of mayhem in the motor. I was curious as to what's different with these engines? I ask this since all the other diesel engines I'm around on a daily basis (pulp truck , skidder, excavator, ect) will run all day long, with lots of idling in that time span, and yet it doesn't seem to bother them any? Looking for some clarification.
  12. Mine doesn't hang lower than the t-case skid plate, and it's mounted on the outside of the frame. I would have loved to have had mine mounted between the t-case and the fuel tank, but with the NV5600 tranny there's no room for the 90 degree mount that Pureflow supplies with out some custom fabbing.
  13. Thanks for that! Hopefully I won't need to touch my valves for another 100k!
  14. so did you just run a couple beads on the joint between the plate that goes up against the frame and the part that the bracket mounts to?
  15. Quick question for ya Mike, now that I've really started looking at it, I'd like that 90 degree bracket you got for your AD. But seeing as how I bought the pump from Vulcan Performance not Pureflow, can I still call up Vulcan and swap for the other bracket?? And also does that bracket just attach to the frame?, cause it looks almost as though it hooks to the T-case as well from that picture you got??
  16. After I fixed the alternator it went really good, amazing how tiny a move of that set screw makes such a big difference on the adjustment! It was quite a bit quieter on startup, kinda expected it to be as some of the valves were WAY out. Truck has 164k on it and this was the first time it was done, still catching up on the lack of maintainence from the previous owner. Now I just need to track a friend down to help me install my AD 100 as I'm not quite brave enough to attempt it on my own, although for all you guys who have done one before, is it really all that difficult an install??
  17. Haha that's pretty good. I figure I'll be learning about these trucks for as long as I have one. Which will hopefully be for as long as I can drive B)
  18. Thanks for the tips guys! I ended up going to a friends house who has a big air compressor setup. Pays to have friends with the right toys. :thumbsup Just a quick note for you Mike, excellent writeup on doing a valve job, just thought you might want to add that the size allen wrench you need is 5mm. Not trying to be smart, just thought it might make it easier for some people
  19. I was turning the alternator nut to get the valves to TDC when all of a sudden the nut comes loose and now I can't get it tight because the pulley spins with the nut. I'm not familiar with how to work alternators or how to adjust them so any help is appreciated!!
  20. Must be the front ones then, cause the speedo reads fine. I guess I'll see about getting a cam sensor then, the joys of living on an island and working a full time job LOL
  21. Oh but the ABS and brake lights are on :confused So could this be a rear speed sensor? Also is the cam sensor something that is going to hurt the engine if I keep driving it? (the other ram just blew a brake line ` ) Thanks for all the info :D
  22. Okay got the error codes from the odometer screen.PCU: P0500 P1693ECU: P1693 P0341 P1690Any ideas as to what this means? :confused:Also how would I go about checking the fuel pressure?
  23. Just got a 2001 QC short bed with the HO cummins and the six speed manual with 157500 on the clock. So far the truck is great was used as a work truck so its got some dings and what not, but my question is; every once and a while when I go to take off from a cold start the engine will stumble a couple times then recover and be fine the rest of the time, but when it does stumble the check engine light immediatly comes on (so at least thats working!). Could this be the lift pump going bad? Any help is greatly appreciated as this is my second Dodge but my first diesel.
