  1. Ok so I was driving today with my O/D locked out when I had that electrical burning smell! Oh Yes so when I got home checked it out and found my 33 ohm 1/2 watt resistor fried! So my question is do I get a 1 watt resistor? How can I fix this problem so it does not happen again? My father in law said to get a 300 ohm resistor what are your thoughts? The voltage supplied to the resistor is suppose to be 5 volts and the resistance is suppose to mimic the solenoid resistance so that the computer does not throw a code. Any help would be awesome - - - Updated - - - Ok so a little help from the ole father in-law and some math equations latter I found out the 1/2 watt resistor is to small. I found this out from this equation for our known values which were the volts=5 and the resistance=33. so according to the equation V squared divided by the resistance 5 x 5 = 25/33 = .75 watts and thats why my resistor fried. So I will know purchase a 33 ohm 1 watt flameproof resistor!
  2. Alright I did it I bought the 4 inch 100w lights from Rimiusa. I was thinking of mounting one in the hole in the bumper where the ball would go if you did not have a hitch wired in. It does not look like my tailgate would hit it any thoughts about this location?
  3. Cool! I am glad to hear about the customer service. I dont care if they are name brand or not as long as they do the job Now you are making it harder for me to choose with that price, but I may just go with the 100w ones so when my brother is on my butt i can give him a shot .
  4. Ok I think I am going with these lights what do you think? 20.95 for 2 http://rimiusa.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43_27_28&products_id=112
  5. Man that is AWESOME My wife will really like that. She does not like tents with walls that are angled Hey thanks alot and the price is way better than close to 700. Have you had any problems with it leaking or anything?
  6. Thanks for the advice. The setup looks real easy they actually have a youtube video on it http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=gprMzIoG4bU I really want a travel trailer but I have to wait so I can save some cash. Also I need to determine how big of a trailer to get.
  7. Ok guys I really need help trying to find the right tent for my family of 5 (2 adults, kids 8,5, and 2). I going camping every year in southern Utah near Navajo lake and I bought a 13x12 tent which sucked! Why you ask cause it took for ever to setup the instructions were horrible. I wish I had a travel trailer but in time if I save it will come I have been looking at these models http://www.kodiakcanvas.com/6014/ http://www.springbar.com/shop/proddetail.php?prod=41010075 BUt I dont know they are expensive should I spring for the better model or go with the basic which is cheaper. Any thoughts and guidance much appreciated
  8. On Napa's web site it says par 36 http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?R=LMW4509_0115941249 where did you get your cases at? - - - Updated - - - What about this one? I think its to small but what are your thoughts?
  9. I was wondering if this housing will work for the napa bulbs 4509 its for a PAR 36 bulb Here is the website I found this at http://www.pmlights.com/products.cfm?cId=3&fId=11&pId=622#507LU
  10. Whats wrong with my pen ship? I am wrongfully accused! How do I know where to install each wire on the relay? Does it tell what wire goes where? You know you guys are the BOMB!
  11. So I will have basically 2 12v power leads one to the dash switch from under the dash which will already be fused (which only turns on when I turn the key on) then from the switch it goes to a slot on the relay. Then from the trailer wiring run another 12v to the other slot on the relay, from the relay out to the lights correct? Now to wire the lights do I split the wire coming from the relay into two (one for each light) then ground each to some where on the frame? hope this makes sense. - - - Updated - - - After reading a thread on the cummins forum one guy recommends a relay for each light is this necessary? I am searching my local auto part stores and I can not find info on how many amps the headlight relay's are. Are they all 40amp? - - - Updated - - - Ok so I just purchased this water proof relay and connector this will work right? http://www.repairconnector.com/waterproof-5-pin-30-40-amp-relay-with-connector/
  12. That makes total sense now a big thank you! Now I will start putting it together! One more thing where did you get your lights from and do you know where I can get my wiring diagram for the hitch on my 05? Another question when finding a 12v under the dash should I use one that is hot all the time or only when the key is on? Ok one more question how do I know what size or kind of relay that I need?
  13. Ok so I do not want to use my lights when I put it in reverse I just want them wired to a switch on the dash to use at my leisure. So how would I wire that up? Maybe like this: a 12v supply( maybe from under the dash?) with a fuse to the switch on the dash then to the relay and out to the lights in the rear? Will this work? My only concern is if I hook it up the way you are talking how would I wire up a switch on the dash? Please forgive the slowness to learn
  14. Where did you get that setup at? thats what I would like to do but I only want them mounted to a switch I really dont need them wired to the reverse lights. I like your setup - - - Updated - - - MoparMan, if I wanted to wire a set of high power lights just to switch what would I need? Such as: a switch ( on & off), lights, wire ( what size), Do I need a relay and why if I do?, What about a fuse? Any help would be great as you can tell I am not an electrician so any help would be great
  15. Can you tell me how you wired that up I like that better! Does it operate off a switch? DETAILS Please!!!
  16. I was wondering if any of you guys run this setup and if you like it? Also if you have the harness you can purchase to easily wire it in? Any thoughts or suggestions would be awesome It is also on sale good price and is it worth it? http://www.genosgarage.com/WHITE-NIGHT-REAR-LIGHTING-SYSTEM-03-09/productinfo/WN%2D4199%2DDG%2DKIT2/ http://www.genosgarage.com/WHITE-NIGHT-PLUG-N-GO-7-PIN-WIRING-ADAPTER/productinfo/WN%2D4149/
  17. I am sure all these bypass kits are good. Its all about what you want to spend on them. Over 500 bones was to pricey for me when some of the cheaper ones have the same efficiency. But in the end its what you perfer .But I have to admit I like my Frantz
  18. Cant wait!
  19. Did you get it wired up yet?
  20. That was my thought about letting it get hot then trying to push them on further but it does say "lock on" on the hose. I dont know if you can see it in one of the pics. I see your point about location but I dont know where I could mount it so I can change it easier. I would have to fabricate something to mount it to the fire wall I thought it was the easiest place to put her.
  21. Ok I got my Frantz on. No matter what I did the hoses were a pain to put on I could only get them over the last barb not any further. The biggest thing is I do not have any leaks so far .I know my bracket is ghetto looking but I do not weld and I do not know anyone who does but it works so far. I am also going to go buy some hose clamps because as I was putting the hoses on I noticed that I had forgotten to put the ones supplied on.
  22. No I was just messing around with him I mean I see his point.
  23. Why you so negative bro Its like asking why did you buy the oil bypass kit? Cause you wanted to right. Because you know there are plenty of cummins with high milage driving around on regular oil and filter setup. I am just saying. Can I call you "Debbie Downer"? Kidding!
  24. I agree with you AD64ID I am not looking to go sled pulling or racing (OK if a punk rolls up and wants to go maybe then) I just want something better than stock and to lower my EGTs. Also since I cant really increase my HP's I want to spend my pennies on improving things on my truck.
