  1. The previous owner told me about it, and I've put 300 miles on it empty and it worked perfect but I hooked up a trailer today and it shuddered bad, when I tap the brake pedal it quits. I have been surfing ebaymotors looking up tranny parts. Have any of you guys heard of RevMax convertors? They have a single billet convertor for $400, but I think they have a core charge on them and I'm too far away to send one back. What convertors have you guys used? I'm also thinking of either a full replacement valvebody or I'll install a shift kit, they are pretty cheap.
  2. Here's my truck, I love it. I'm ording in the steering box support kit next week, the steering is the only thing I don't like. But for the $3500 I payed for it I can afford to fix a few things. Also a couple pics of my Samurai, I had some 33" ag tires on it for this trip. The poor Jeeps couldn't follow me.
  3. Welcome aboard, I'm new here too and one Province to the east of you.
  4. No I didn't build a rock crawler Sammy, but I've owned over 20 of them in the last 4 years and built some pretty sweet units. I have a camo 87 Samurai that I have been building up over the last couple years. I take the family out on the trails when we go camping. It can go 95% of the places a Rhino or similar can and several places they can't. Thanks for all the welcomes guys, I'm glad I found a forum where everybody is there to help a guy out instead of argue.
  5. Hello all, My name is John Browne and I'm from Rimbey Alberta Canada. I'm 39 for a few more days and just bought my first diesel truck a week ago. It's a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 Quad cab long box with a auto trans. I know the two previous owners, it has high mileage at 438,000kms but runs really nice and burns no oil. The inj pump and lift pump were done a 360,000kms so that makes me feel a little better. I got it to pull the new 27 foot Puma holiday trailer we got in Jan, so I want to do just a couple mods to it for a bit more power and fuel economy. I don't know how accurate the overhead consule is but it reads around 22mpg at 100km/hr. Best part was the price, $3500 and it's a full load minus leather. I'm a licensed mechanic, but we never did any diesel work at the small shop I worked at, so I will probably have lots of questions for you guys. CheersJohn
  6. Hi all, I just bought my first diesel pick up a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 24valve auto last week. I have been lurking the forums and have found out alot of info, but have a few questions. Should I run an additive with my fuel to help lube the pump? If so what do you guys recommend? I see my first mod should be a fuel psi gauge so I will be doing it ASAP. I do a bit of drag racing and I have a Autometer gauge and a isolator so all I need is a way to hook it in between the filter housing and the inj pump. My truck has the lift pump mounted on the engine and also has had a small inline pump mounted on the frame. It looks like the same size as the metal inline fuel filters. This must just help to bring the fuel up to the lift pump. I have a holley black pump here, can I put it in place of this small booster pump? Will it boost the pressure or will the factory lift pump restrict it back so that it won't help anyway? Do I need this draw straw add on I have read about? The truck is totally stock so far, but I want to put on a 75hp chip just for mileage and I'm going to cut out the resonator and muffler. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really happy to have this truck and don't want to have any problems with it. Thanks for having me.
