'99 radiator drain 1/4 turn only?
Well I got a new Drain plug, Dorman #41134, Re drained the fluid. Old plug pulled right out at 180 degree turn. Slopped some petroleum jelly on the new plug and a smear in the hole . New plug went right in. I had put a new 190 degree moto rad thermostat in. The old thermostat was actually broken cracked right through on one side of sensor side. No wonder it was acting like there was no thermostat at all. I used 3 gallon of super tech antifreeze full strength and distilled water because house water is full of minerals . Manual says system is 6 gallons Test drove about 25 miles.. Working good . Goes to 190 then cools alittle to about 180-185 and fluctuates 190- 185... thats ok..... No drain plug leak this time Good to go......

Its cold out there ..... Ill re drain my new coolant and then replace the plug and refill Mike , Is your threaded plug better? What kind of new radiator did you get, napa replacement or aftermarket custom ? I used to live right by Champion radiators shop ... Nice custom aluminum radiators

Ok , I got it to pull out alittle and drained and flushed and refilled and changed the thermostate Now it leaks it drips pretty good after I finally closed it and did the refill.... Does that drain plug come out all the way and is there a O ring that can be replaced? If so does anyone know the size of the O ring? Nothing about it in the big service manual Please dont tell me to do a search if you dont know.... I cant ever find anything doing a search and cant do a search Is there a O ring on the plug that can be replaced? Does the plug come completely out...? I didnt want to break it but it did loosen up alittle when I drained the fluid

Tuff one.... Pass side vanity mirror, loose, black goo
I put my visors down to hold my windshield shade.... My pass side the vanity mirror is loose and messy gooey black glue foam rubber gunk holding the mirror in the visor melted and was falling out..... nasty stuff .... cleans off the upholstery with rubbing alcohol luckily Pulled the visor off and tried to vacuum the dissolving gooey stuff..... Might have to just break the mirror glass to get all the messy goo out of there. Anyone else had this happen

Thermostat... just a good one
Bottom line sounds like a crap shoot to some degree over the years, and guys saying "cummins boxed thermostat only" is the best hands down appear to be wrong since they change makers So labeled box aside,, what manufacture seems the best?...motorad ? I want the fails open type Here is what is listed for my '99 ..... Looks like I want the top one or bottom one . What is the jiggle pin one at the bottom? Is that a safety too , and looks like the top one is Stainless steel? https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?input-q=I+Don't+Know&q=N%3D2500005%2B2600501%2B2802469%2B10199900%2B5002000%2B5002200%2B200220100%2B402203300%2B599999900%2B50600000%26Score%3D0.9&text=thermostat&indices=UI&keywordInput=thermostat&referer=nol-veh-conds . .

Radiator flush
My water is nasty .... Mucho calcium build up if I used it in a radiator. Would clog the radiator cooling tubes Gotta use acid to clean my shower , all the calcium crud build up. My toilet tank actually gets rocks and large granite sand in the bottom of the tank.....

Hydralic Brake Booster , possible leak
My hyd boost is leaking out of the weep hole on the bottom , I see oil moisture at the brake pedal push rod under the dash too What is this pirate 4x4 seal kit? Got a link and instructions? Pirate 4x4 is a forum . Did you rebuild your whole hydo boost with a seal kit ? Seems like it would have O ring or cup seals just like a brake master cylinder. That blue can has nitrogen under high presssure too. How did you refill that?

Radiator flush
I'm due for a radiator flush My water is hard and full of calcium so I will be buying gallons of distilled water and full strength coolant . My manual says 6 gallon capacity so does 3 gallons of antifreeze and 3 gallons of water sound good for a 50/50? Question since I forgot since last time I flushed. Is just draining from the drain at the bottom of the radiator the best way to get most the coolant out? I want to flush it out by keep running fresh water through it, but when I'm done what is the best way to get all my garden hose hard / calcium fresh flush water out before I put my gallons of distilled water and new coolant in ? Note: I moved this thread over to 'power train'

Hydralic Brake Booster , possible leak
I noticed a oily little leak on my frame looking in the driver side wheel well. Examining under the hood and with a mirror I see oil moister on the Hydralic brake booster. Power steering fluid isnt down to bad, check hot, might be slightly down but not at the add line at all I thought at first it might be the master cylinder but its dry right where it mounts to the hydraulic booster. Looks like there is a little leak drain out hole on the middle bottom of the Hydraulic booster kind of like a water pump has I used a little de-greaser spray and hosed everything off clean so I can see exactly where its leaking from next time I drive Any one have their Hydraulic brake booster leak and had to replace it?
