Anybody ever melt the dust covers on shocks? Or, do I need to embrace stacks?

Recommended Posts

I had my truck on a lift today and was looking at the right rear shock... The plastic was melted. Quite a surprise.  I think it happened towing this last summer. Lots of time droning at 1100 EGT with 100F ambient temps.  Although, it could have happened when my exhaust dropped off of an exhaust hanger for a couple weeks before I noticed. It might have touched.

As much as I hate to admit it, but does this actually make a decent argument for stacks?

Hate if you want but I love my homemade 5" mitre cut stacks. They're painted with high heat matte black paint :thumb1:

ETA: I drew up a mitre template similar to this so the cut would be right.

I'm 33 and can't stand those stupid hats. They scream "I'm a douchebag who likes to run people off the road with my brodozer while chugging a monster and wearing a FOX Racing shirt" Sadly I know people my age who wear those hats a live the "brostyle" life :nadkick::nadkick:
