stop P0230 code in a Fuel boss only setup

I rolled by the smog shop I go to and he checked my codes/monitors. He said my monitors were not set. So I need to drive more or it could be because of the fuel pump code he wasn't sure, but I need the monitors set and green to pass. Did me resetting with my scan tool un set the monitors? 

 

My guess is I will need the pump code to go away to get passed and do the 3 10mi 65mph drives started above... Thats actually gonna be a joy tie because Im not leaving town this week/weekend. He also said the BHAF was fine, as far as he's concerned its a K&N because thats the cable on the tube.

Here's what I did with my fuel boss set up.  Had my SMOG test run back in December with no codes and no problems.   You can just run the wire from the ECM for the fuel pump to terminal 86 and ground terminal 85.  The ECM will see the resistance in the relay coil and think it's the fuel pump.  Be sure the relay has a resistor or diode in it for voltage spike protection.

 

So on this. what wire from the ECM? 15 or 35? I saw your drawing on the other page, but it looks like both 15 and 35 run to 86 and 85 on the relay. Or is the just the pump power plug from the ECM im taping to? If thats the case, I would rip the socket off the old pump and make a little dongle fooler deal with a relay on it. or even just a resistor?

Anytime a code is set, a code is cleared with a scan tool or the batteries are disconnected the monitors will need to reset.

The two wires are joined together in the wire harness at S160 (splice) and go to the lift pump.  You could add a resister between the power led and ground to mimic the fuel pump.

Simple enough. Any size in particular? That won’t damage the ECU will it? If I could get the code to clear tonight, I should have the monitors reset for an inspection next week.

 

honstly that’s assuming this fuel pump code is even a problem. Monitors are likely reset because I cleared the code recently to see if it comes back. If the monitors clear without mimicing tue electric pump I’m golden.

@IBMobile thanks for the tip on the relay is worked beautifully. I used the plug from my fuel boss Hobbs switch I was no longer using to make a clean “fooler”. I just think I’ll measure the resistance in the relay sometime and make a less bulky plug. I think Rich from GDP should have this as an option for his fuel boss kit. 

 

Once plugged in in the code and monitors reset Immediately on their own, looks like I’m ready for my smog check.

Boom! Ca smog passed. He skipped right over the BHAF, likely because it’s attached to a k&n tube.

That's great to hear.   I like the relay set up, that's what I have but in the PDC.  The power draw between pins 86 and 85 of that type of relay is .15-.18 amps with a resistance of ~80Ω.  So it doesn't take much to fool the EMC and turn of the light.
