2002 dakota 4.7 slt 4×2 . If I come to a stop the engine stalls . Feels like it's trying to move forward but because I am using my brakes it cant so it stalls . When real bad if I go from neutral to reverse or drive it stalls . I have to shut the truck off and restart then sometimes that works . I believe the torque converter is not unlocking , what is the fix . Please dont say new transmission  ! ?

I'm no transmission expert, but I'd say either the torque converter is damaged internally, or the valve body is malfunctioning. My money is on the torque converter. But I strongly recommend taking it to a reputable shop for diagnosis. Is this the 545RFE?
