old to new cab replacement

Recommended Posts

Hello all;I have a simple question, that may not be a simple job, but....I am in need of a new cab, instead of spending all the time cutting and welding new floors, rockers and cab corners. I have a really good deal in front of me, it is a cab from a 1995 ram gasoline, now I have a 2001 ram diesel, are the cabs interchangable for those years??? If so are there any suggestions to make my job go smoother, is there any drilling or cutting??? or if anyone has done it before what was the order they went in for taking things apart? Thank you very much.

every thing will match up,they made these things pretty much a universal fit to keep things simple.you will have to completely remove the wiring harness from your diesel and swap it into the gasser cab,but even it is a simple trade out although that does not mean it's easy.there is a bit of work involved.i think it's worth it though to have a rust free cab.i'v done both aspects of this with my 89 using a 87 gasser cab but still had to replace one floor & one rocker.good luck with yours.:thumb1:

From the research I've been doing on swapping my driveline into another dodge truck what I've found is that in 98 the wiring harness' changed, so putting a 94-97 cab on your 2001 truck your wiring harness wont plug into the connector on the 95 cab.

The year of the cab does not matter. They are interchangeable. What you would need to do is save ALL of your wiring and dash out of your truck and reinstall the harness and dash in the 'new' cab.

definately going to change over the dash and harness, I do like the look of the older dash, but It wouldnt fly with the gauges being a gasser and all. just hoping that my dash doesnt crumble to pieces like the older 96 did, the slightest bend caused it to crack straight through. thanks for the info everyone.
