99 Ram 2500 4x4 auto 5.9 24V  bought it with 89K on it now has 116K.  The Issue I have is intermittently when it starts it has a ideal lope for about 5 to 10 seconds then ideals normally which around 740 -750 rpm... occasionally 800 rpm...  The problem is/was magnified when I installed 75HP injectors... bigger lope like it had a big cam in or something... but again it would ideal normal after 5-10 seconds on it own or if gave it some pedal... it would also like to stall when putting it in reverse with the 75hp injectors sometimes... the problem is only at start up truck runs fine other then that... I put the stock injectors back in and still does it just at a smaller lope...(problem has not worsened with time)  I really would like to run the 75hp injectors but the loping is like a pulling truck and the stalling is annoying... any ideas?

thx guys

Two trucks that lope at Idle........Have you guys checked for tank vacuum when removing the fuel caps? After a run remove the cap to hear for any the hiss or air running into the tank.

How about the screens in the tank and the other small canister shaped plastic screen filter in the module? Have you cut those things out yet. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem like fuel pressure bounce  sort of like water hammer in piping if that applies.

Mine doesn't lope. I have the same problem Mulcher has where the truck almost stalls out when put into gear from a cold start.

Mine started doing that on a long trip heavy haul so I let it idle in neutral for about 10 seconds before putting it in gear. If I could let it roll first that seemed to help stop the stalling also. Problem went away on it's own eventually. I understand that neutral gets the trans fluid pumping throughout the trans better when not underway.
