What's everyone's opinion on the best gearbox? Just replaced mine from napa and its total garbage out of the box. So looking to save some time and do it right. Thanks

Stuffed the tank full this afternoon. 31.3xx gallons with 635.xx miles on the tanks of fuel.Came out to 20.1x MPG!!!Just ordered filters............oil(OEM), fuel(OEM+FF5320), OEM air filter, and a crankcase filter from Geno's Garage. For me it's cheaper to pay the shipping from ONE PLACE, rather than drive around finding these items.I'm almost tempted not to change anything..................as I've not had a tank of fuel average under 20mpg since late winter/early spring!!! But it needs to be done...............and I normally do it now; just a few weeks before my annual hunting trip to NoDak!!!Just bragging a bit.................not saying!!!!

Few things going on here...2007 Ram CTD 6.7, 3500.91,000 miles, and just over 5 years old.Consistently serviced, tech even said its the cleanest engine he has seen yet to date. Looked brand new under the valve cover. Of course, I maintain it properly!!!! 1. Immediately after I got a full tank of diesel from Safeway, within 1.2 miles, my trucks dash lit up like a Xmas tree, and threw these codes at me. 2. I noticed that during the fill the diesel was far more foamy than what I normally see from ULSD.3. I used the diagnosis on this site for injector #5, and found that it was fluctuating from .9 to 1.2 ohms, and the rest of them were 1.0 ohms flat. 4. I checked (as much as I…

Here is an impressive dyno run. See how flat it stays in the upper rpm range! Still flat at 4k where the run was ended. BBi and SSR combo http://www.smartyresource.com/downloads/graphs/high_hp_run.bmp

Here is a good write up that will be of interest to you guys. http://www.smartyresource.com/downloads/graphs/InjectorsDavid.pdf This shows the test results of an examination of David's aftermarket brand X injectors that were sent in so an issue he was having with them could be found. Lets let these pages do the talking! Scroll down for the complete 19 page report. (Firefox users may notice an absence of lines on some of the graphs.) Enjoy these pictures and graphs as well as the explanations which give details on these various injector issues. These show the Injectors as they were sent into the BBi facility for inspection and also results of repair. Indeed an interesting …

I've got a member (Towhungerford) that called today and is having problems with a 2003 Dodge Cummins that has a knock while under load and goes away after it warms up. The injectors where just replaced and the knock came after the injector replacement. The injectors where replaced because of hard starting issues. But now there is a audible knock while under load cold but as the engine warms up the knock leaves. Got me scratching my head.

So if all goes well, I will be selling my 04 QCSB Hemi tomorrow and I will be getting a 2004.5 2500 QCSB with 87k on the clock. I'm no mechanic but I know my way around a gasser but I have never owned a diesel before. I MAY have been spending a majority of my time at work researching diesels and reading on this forum and others to start learning. If you Cummins Gods could give me a quick crash course on daily diesel ownership that would be much appreciated. Things like not to let it idle to warm up, change fuel filters, dont shut her off when the turbo is spooled etc. Just little things that differ from a gasser.

Lately when my truck shifts in to OD I get what feels like a slip and causes the RPMs to bounce up and down. It even acts like this at around 30-35 mph sometimes. But mostly between 40-55 when the engine is running around 1500 to 1700 rpm. Any ideas as to what this may be?

Well, it appears I have a new issue with my truck. Under acceleration I get a fairly thick cloud of black smoke along with sluggish acceleration. The harder I mash the pedal the worse it gets. It rarely ever smoked before unless I turned the Minimaxx up and romped on it. Even then it wasn't near as bad as it is now. Some background:I've just moved from Alaska to Utah. I drove roughly 3500 miles with a gross weight of 22,000 pounds. Minimaxx was set on the Tow setting (+60hp). At the beginning of the trip the temps at 65mph on relatively flat ground were as follows:Ambient 60*Coolant 195-200Tranny 170-180Egt 900-1000When I got to Washington state the temps were sitting atA…

  13. We’ve implemented a new menu point in order to see which dongles are connected to the PC and what data they contain. This will be usefull for all cases where: "I’ve order a main but..., UDC SW is still in Demo mode", etc. http://smartyresource.com/SmartyUDC.aspx http://www.madselectronics.com/downloadfiles/UDC_Versions_History.pdf Thank you! 15. Some very interesting HPCR Injector Facts High Pressure Common Rail Injectors The clearance between the injector needle and the guidance is 2µm. 2µm ? =.0000787 or rounded UP 8/10,000ths of an inch. A VERY tight tolerance. By design, we need this needle to open & close (lift & lower) with the alignment as correctly as possible, to insure the male conical tip of the needle correctly aligns with the female conical seat, to insure proper opening & closing events. At 2000 rpm this opening & closing event is completed 2000 times every minute, including the pilot and main injection events. At 3000 rpm, 3000 times every minute & @ 4000 rpm…

ok .... possibly looking to step up from my 2nd Gen to a 3rd gen. 04-07. Want to collect some info in case I do.1) Which years are best and why. Looking for a AUTO. Ideally 4WD but might have to settle for 2WD.2) Problems with years apart from sticking injectors.3) Anything to check for apart from normal ? How about pulling codes - just an OBDII scanner ?What mods done would indicate well looked after ...... eg normal LiftPump and guages ?? etcPlanning on checking for the following mainly.1) Codes and anything with transmission to indicate problem (fluid, clutch particulate) and any slipping under WOT.2) Blowby/Crank (where does it exit on these year trucks)3) Rust and P…
