Ok So I purchased a dieselsite auxiliary transmission filter setup and after hooking it all up and Teflon taping all the proper fittings I had some leaks I tightened them up so I think I have those sealed now. But my biggest problem are the metal lines going into the filter housing they keep leaking I have taken them off and tightened them back down at least three times the fourth time I think I got it. I will have to crawl under there today once I get home to check. Also in the process of torquing these fittings down I ripped out a bolt on the filter base so I will have to get a new one. Is there something wrong with what I am doing? The ends on the metal lines are flare…

The P/S on my 2008 a moaning noise in cold weather but does not in warm weather. I have checked the fluid for level and foaming but everything looks normal. I question if it may be a harmonic but can't figure what would cause in in temps below 50 degrees and not above that temp. Even after 40 miles in cool weather it sound like it has low or burned fluid yet is normal in warmer temps from start up to key off. Any ideas?

Help. I own a 2003 Dodge 5.9L Cummins "High output" with 185,00kms. I drove the truck today to the lumber store and shut it off. It was working fine. I came out to start the truck and with would not start. It turns over great and fast but no start. I had this happen a couple years ago. I ended up getting it towed to a diesel tech and for some reason from hook up to shop something jiggled or something, and guess what. ... It started when it go to shop with no problem. Ever since it has been fine except a APPS sensor that I changed 2 months ago. I check the code and found a P0483 code which is a fan clutch. FYI My fan clutch wiring has been ripped off for 7 y…

Has anyone ever used this with the 48RE? I used it in my last truck(06 Hemi/1500) and was impressed with how it improved its shift. Every once in awhile under very light acceleration, I get a feeling almost like the convertor locked up early-it's doesn't feel like slipping or a shudder ,hard to describe actually. My half ton acted the same even after filter /fluid change and I added this-cured it. I just bought this 2500 a couple months ago and I'm a little leery pouring just anything in my transmission, I plan on doing the filter /fluid /band adjustments in about 6 weeks but wondered about giving this a shot in the interim? My truck has 63,000 miles on it -Thanks!

Hi there. Enjoyed the interesting articles. I have 2006 that looses RP under load while the lift pump holds 12-14 PSI at all times. Evidently the CP3 is able to produce 22-23000 psi but not the volume the rail needs since it sinks to 2000-3000psi under load. Ordered a new FCA Solinoid at genos Any Ideas ?

What is an A/R ratio and how is it calculated?: The A/R in a relationship that is obtained when dividing the interior area of the turbine where the inner walls are found, through the turbine housing radio from the center to the tongue as the illustration indicates. A/R values are expressed as .35, .47, .68, .84, 1.00, 1.15, etc. A small A/R indicates a small interior volume in the small turbine and a large A/R indicates a greater volum…

For the last century, horsepower has been used to describe the power output of the internal combustion engine. The horsepower unit was created by James Watt in the 18th century. Its origin is based from how much power a horse could lift in foot pounds, 33,000 ft-lbs to be exact in one minute. The unit is derived from torque, which is the true measurement of the engine physical power production. What is strange about the units of horsepower is that it has no physical meaning. Its an arbitrary unit that has no real significance in describing the characteristic of the engine. For those that are curious to calculate horsepower: horsepower = (rpm/5252) * …

Everyone seems to grasp that a larger exhaust on a turbocharger vehicle will gain faster spool up, increased power and thus faster acceleration. Here is the theory behind the phenomenon: The turbine housing is merely a volume for which exhaust gas (energy) is transmitted from the engine, to the turbine blade, then dispelled into the atmosphere. In order to better understand how this works we need to take a look at pressure. Turbines in general work off of a pressure differential. A pressure differential in layman's terms is the ratio of pressure before the turbine blade, and after the turbine blade. The greater the pre-turbine pressure compared to the post-tu…

Turbochargers while simple in design, can get very complex in theory. From deciding what compressor trim is desired, to what turbine housing to be used is confusing to most who enter the field of forced induction. This article will hopefully take away all the confusion in turbocharger selection. Terminology Before I can begin writing an article explaining turbochargers, terminology must be learned. Here is a list of the more commonly used turbocharger terms: Compressor - Essentially a fan that spins and compresses air within an enclosed area (compressor housing). In order to allow the air to compress and build pressure within the hou…

About a year ago to the day, I bought a set of Cooper ST maxx tires for the 03. Up until last week I have been quite pleased with them all around.I was checking tire pressures, and noticed the left front was running about 15psi low. upon further inspection I found that the outer bead was cracked almost completely around.. The right front was cracked about half way, and both rears were showing signs of dry rot.I went back to the dealer, and after looking at them he informed me that the ST Maxx series is a commercial tire, and does not have a replacement warranty. after punching numbers, and giving me pro rate quotes, I think he began to notice the frown growing on my face.…

Here are two pictures of the 4 bolts that are in the flange on the u-joint connecting the front drive shaft to the front differential. Obviously one is not right - besides looking funny it is not as long as the other 3 bolts and does not stick out the back like the other 3 do. Where is the best place to buy one of the correct bolts and is there any issue with just replacing the incorrect one? Does anyone know the correct torque?

Looks like its all in the computer, huh? I was hoping for a disconnected vacuum line like I'm used to :)I have an ABS light on, so I'm guessing there's a dead wheel speed sensor somewhere. I'd like an easy way to find them but I don't have a drb, and Smarty Jr & Edge Insight don't read ABS codes. Is there another software tool that anyone knows of that I could use with a serial OBD II cable?I need to get the truck inspected soon, I'll see if my shop has anything but they're not big enough to waste $ on a DRB.

With the nice weather arriving I am getting my '05 ready for some R&R activities. I am going to put my camper on the truck and hook up the boat and head out for some fun. I am thinking I want to upgrade my transmission air to oil cooler so that I can keep my tranny temps from getting high as I use the truck. I will be at max GVW on the truck and my GCWR will be about 17k. Last summer driving in the heat I saw tranny temps of 196 degrees F without the camper or the boat in tow. I know it will go up as I load the truck and travel the mountains so I want to build in lots of margin. Of course I can't find a spec on the OEM cooler so I don't know what it's BTU capa…

So I finally got around to doing some maintenance like oil change, fuel filter, etc. on my 2 week old new-used truck. The owners manual says to grease some fittings where the front drive haft connects to the transfer case but I can not find any fittings there. It is very possible that there are some aftermarket parts on this truck - the transfer case looks brand new compared to everything else under there. Does anyone know if on the stock 2006 2500 4x4 there really are grease fittings at the u-joint in the location shown in the owners manual? I am just trying to figure out what all is stock on this truck and what is aftermarket.thanks,Scott
