  1. Mike, This is my friends truck that I'm checking out now, he had posted this comment on another forum. (see below).I have a 2002 Dodge ram 2500 diesel that I am pulling a map and iat sensor code on. My mechanic thinks it is the ECM but is not sure. I only have about 1/4 of the pedal and then nothing happens after that. If anyone has had this problem and could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks Mike, I'll have to post this in a series since it has a bunch of info on it.Mike, all this took place before I actually had a chance to do any of the diagnostic testing listed below. This is what happened before I got my hands on this truck. Every one who or where he has drove th…

First, this problem only happens after it sits over night. If it sits 10-12 hours during the day it starts right up. Second, I have no codes, cleaned the battery terminals and used dieelectric grease on the the fuel pump electrical wires. Third, checked the 40 amp fuel fuse at the PCM.Fourth, fuel pressure is 17 psi at idle and driving and 15 psi at WOT. This problem is on a 99 2500 4X4 auto with an Edge EZ and a Raptor 150 pump. I believe it is an electrical problem. Here is the problem: turn the key in the morning, pump energizes, start the truck up and it runs for approx. 10 sec., shuts off, turn the key off and then back on- you don't hear the pump energize, turn the …

  3. I am trying to find an OEM replacement kit for the fuel heater element on the fuel filter cannister for my and my wife's truck. I am getting reading that these are getting very difficult to get and are no longer in production??? Is this true??? Anyone know where they can be purchased? I understand they are a Cummins Filtration item and the part number is: 3928013-S Can anyone verify this or provide the correct part number? Thanks.

Ok This is what it does: At idle if you bring it up just a little above idle say around 800-950 rpm's it will flucuate up and down almost like its missing. Thats where its most noticeable. You can also notice it around 1800 rpm. I've got good fuel pressure, I've pulled injectors and had tested, New Vp twice just to rule it out, cleaned MAP sensor and IAT sensor, replaced the APPS with a williams from timbo, cleaned all my grounds just now. I am running a SMarty on level 3. I have no codes except the 1693 and the other one is a fuel calibration error code and when the rpm's at idle do this weird idle like it misses, every once and a great while it will throw the …

A question for all.I have recently heard of a potential problem on the older 5.9, 's that I am sure most of you know about, but it was news to me. There is a dowel pin under the front cover that can work out and tear up the gears in the fron of the motor? And I understand the easy fix, I quess my question is, Is this still a potential problem on the 2nd gen 24 valve motor? or has it been adderessed by Cummins? Thanks in advance for "clearing the air"

  7. Just did a 250 mile drive after making some mods on my truck. Now with the Raptor and drawstraw on the truck I can go as fast as i want to without worrying about fuel pressure. Now the problem is that once I go much over peak torque the fuel mileage goes down... way down. First 100 miles stayed at 60-65 mph and was getting a good 27+ mpg. Anything over that speed and its down to 25 mpg, and once I hit the hills best I could do was 23 mpg. Friend of mine has a Gear Vendors OD unit on his Ford Powerstroke and loves it. Course he got it for a good price and not list of $3000+ as well. Was thinking about trying to find one for the Dodge and sure would like to be able to run 7…

First off let me explain the reason for high idle functions. The 24 valve Dodge Cummins trucks tend to burn must cooler because of the extra valves in the head. But in the cool winter time temp it's possible for the combustion temperatures to fail low enough to cause tar formation on the valves and cause them to stick. This in turn will bend the pushrods cause some serious damage. Dodge has a TSB bulletin to correct this problem by flashing the ECM and enabling the existing software for high idle. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=umXz_xGxank http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0Ah9nK3ahc http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=il7iJCKfmaE Design Reasons The reas…

2001 Dodge 3500, 6 speed manual transmission.... hit with the dreaded "dead pedal" yesterday but after restarting the truck, it started working again which was great so I could get back home, to work today & the truck in the shop. Diagnostics on it can't find a computer code to determine the accurate diagnosis. So now what do I do, replace the APPS now or what and see if something else shows up? I often have a trailer hooked up with horses so really hate to get stranded out some where. It's the holiday week and I got a buddy that can put one in for me if I get one ordered today so whatcha' think? Help a gal out, won't ya?

The truck fell flat on her face, dead pedal. got a 0237 code. Checking out the forums I've seen the code called Map sensor, Boost sensor, Turbocharger sensor. I just want to confirm that they are all one in the same. I found the part on Rock Auto's website for $200 just want to make sure it is the right part. Or if anyone knows where to get it for less. Also, I've done the adjust APPS to correct voltage. Is this just a patch till the inevidible and should just be replaced? Thanks.'02 HO 3500 6sp airdog, mbrp, edge w/att, aem intake.

  11. I just replaced the front Brakes, "rotors, calapiers, & pads, Left on a trip to New Mexico the Day after. I noticed a A LOUD clicking in the Drivers side front wheel at the first stop light in town. It continued to do this for about 3/4 of the way and then it quit. anything to worry about?? P/S did not have a torque wrench big enough to set torque on wheel nut, just torqued w/ 3/4 ratchet and pipe

  12. When i am running on the highway @ 45-60 mph with my edge att. box on 1 or 2, (do not have VP pump tapped) and push the pedal down even slightly it seams as if the trans or T/C is slipping. It feels exactly like a clutch slipping in a Manual Trans. mabe not as violent. does not do this running on stock level. T/C was replaced by local Cottman shop w/ what ever brand they carry, was suppost to be HD good for 800ft/lbs torque. Is this a T/C lock-unlock eletcrical issue???

ok i just got this 99 dodge 3500 it has 250000 miles on it...runs real good it has an old edge ez, it only plugs into the vp44 and the map sensor. every once and a while it goes dead pedal around 70. i changed the map sensor and apps it was running better and did not go dead pedal for a while then i ran it out past 80 when i coasted back to 55 it went dead pedal again. could this old edge box be causeing this? i know it could be the vp44 but i dont want to think so i took off the edge box today. and have a scangauge in the mail

  16. Hey guys, I continue my seach for more MPG and so I called my local diesel shop and asked about prices on Bosch RV275 injectors. They told me that there is no such thing as a "Bosch" RV275. He said that it is an injector that someone has EDM's the nozzle on, AND he said that by doing this it hurts the life cyle of the injector. Questions: Is he right???, and should I care? I have heard good things about the RV275, but do I need to be concerned about it not lastin very long aka wearing out? Ultimately, can I expect any mileage gains out of them? Thanks. 2000 CTD, FASS95, RSD Straight 5", Quad XTZ+ (beta tune), NV5600, FP Gauge

  17. For 2000-2002 Year Trucks (For Owners Without Code Readers) Insert your ignition key. Turn it to the OFF position. Now turn it ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON in less than 5 seconds. Leave it in the on position. In the odometer display it should start to display codes. It starts with P PCU errors. This is to notify you that the error codes are coming. They would show up as Pnnnn. All error codes are listed in 4 digits. Write down all Pnnnn error codes that are displayed. P Done will notify that P PCU error code list is done. Now we display P ECU errors. This is to notify you that the error codes are coming. They would show up as Pnnnn. All error codes are listed in 4…

  18. Specifications Here is a copy of the fuel system specifications from the Dodge Factory Service Manual. Fuel pressure Normal fuel pressure should float about 14-15 PSI running down the pavement. Should never fail below 10 PSI at all. Here is a colorized fuel pressure gauge to give you a clue of the fuel pressure span you want. You want the needle to stay in the green at all times. Yellow zone is a warning that you should check the fuel filter, lift pump performance, overflow valve, etc. This is undocumented maximum pressure is 20 PSI. Now take notice to the overflow valve is set for 14 PSI so excessive pumping of fuel does nothing for performance except …

  20. The main issue with OEM crankcase vent is it is nothing more than a piece of hose mounted to the front of the gear case. The piece of hose elbows over the case and points down towards the ground. There are two versions of this crankcase. One involves a drip bottle mounted on the end of the hose and the other does not. A Technical Service Bulleting (TSB) was released on this issue as well: TSB (09-002-02 Crankcase Breather Overflow). This bulletin warns of potential of extreme loss of oil from a truck descending at to steep of a slope while off-roading. During this loss of oil, oil also has been known to scatter all over the engine and radiator. This scattering of oil c…
