  2. Over the weekend I had my truck jacked up and was spinning both the front tires trying to find a noise. Tonight when I checked my codes I had a P0500 speed sensor error code. I checked my manual and on the 02 the speed sensor is under the front wheel hubs. My question is would having the front wheels off the ground & spinning the tires make it throw this error code?

  4. Does anyone have a way to make a switch to not be able to start the truck? It would meed to disable the VP and the starter, because the truck can be bump started. It needs to be put on a switch in the cab, that way it is easy to operate for the owner, and not the thief. Stodg

I have seen the question asked a million times on other forums. It usually comes down to someone claiming to be an awesome mechanic stating that hydroboost brake boosters aren't rebuild-able/resealable or that they are so complicated if you took them apart you would never get them back together. :banghead: Well even though my hydroboost has been doing a great job keeping my undercarriage lubricated the constant top offs with power steering fluid and air in the system got pretty annoying. I decided that I would take a peek inside of it and possibly reseal it. I didn't plan to rebuild the unit as there are a couple specialized tools you either have to purchase or …

Anyone have one of these? Not to sound stupid but I see it says they handle the load put on the headlight switch to keep it form burning up, but is an actual headlight bulb designed to withstand the heat of both elements on at the same time for an extended period of time I wonder? http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BB-M4B-FLCU

  9. Getting ready to install my alarm in the truck and while the interior is out, I am want to spray the inside with a sound deadener/insulation material. 2 things I founs are lizard skin and a product called coolcar. Leaning towards coolcar since they are in seattle if they will let me pick it up locally instead of shipping. If not, well then its a matter of overall price including shipping. Anyone have any experience with either? Oh I am also replacing the carpet with a full vinyl flooring as well. from auto-interior.com I want biege but I think it will be a tad too much. so going with the black.

Shortly after purchasing my truck last November, I filled it up to get an understanding of how accurate the fuel gauge was. I found out it was somewhat conservative (~ 8 gal left when the light comes on @ the 1/8th tank level), and also found that the tank leaked fuel when full. Last Friday it had finally gotten warm enough & the tornadoes have subsided enough for me to drop the tank to find & fix the problem. The source of the problem was at the top of the fuel tank module. The lid of the module holds four components; the level sender electrical connector, the fuel suction/return lines, the roll-over valve, and an unused capped-off extra fuel line. Each one of th…

  11. Does anyone know why most 2nd gen CTD shocks list "Exclusion: Snow Plow Prep Package"?I did not get (or maybe I couldn't get) the snow plow option when I ordered my truck back in 1997 and am wondering if there is a special coil and/or shock setup that would allow a snow plow setup? I'm thinking it might have been an axle overload issue though (too much weight with the Cummins engine to throw the weight of the snow plow on top of that front axle). Also, does anyone know what the camper option added to the suspension? Thanks for any advice or information you can provide ahead of time!

  12. I need to know what this part is. I went to the local parts store and they/we think it is brake proportional valve sensor. When i was chasing wires on the 7 prong rear plug wasn't getting power i must have bumped it and broke it off, now my ABS and brake lights are on. can i buy just the sensor or do i have to buy the whole thing?

Curious as I don't fully understand vehcile licencing here in US and we are about to move to CA. Also been reading http://dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2536 Truck is registered in MO (where we bought it) and we extended the licence this year which expires in DEC. Now we are moving to CA for 6-9 months. So a couple of questions 1) Do I need to bother with anything now as truck is licenced till DEC in MO. 2) If I stayed in CA beyond DEC - can I just renew my plates as MO plates. 3) Can I get fined for having a truck that smokes ??? Can it be worse than a fine or does that only happen at inspection time ?? I did read this here http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fa…

  14. Was looking at my Dana part numbers for upcoming gear change when I noticed my old stock shocks are shot. Wondering if anyone with an 8600 / 8800 lb cap 4x4 extended cab has tried this and if so, are these worth the money? I would really like to hear from someone with the remote control wireless unit.

I've decided how I'm going to run the harnesses for my XZT+ & the IAT fooler. The mechanic was fussing about "all the extra wiring" under my dash while they were working on it. (Too bad he did not call me because there was the Trailer brake box & the Escort remote radar detector system... neither of which connects to the engine.) Well, I took the knee panel out. I had left the harnesses long & just zip tied them up & out of the way. Since I know I still have to have the dash pulled for the heater & AC repairs, I figured I'd create some slack to work with. (snip, snip, snip... zip ties out)So I started to install the 2 toggle switches for the X…

My vibration damper got gunked up from the puke bottle (did the mod) and my steering wheel vibrates at idle and I need to inspect it. Can the damper be removed by removing the 4 bolts that hold it? Or do I have to remove the fan and fan clutch. Do I have to mark it so it goes back like it came off. What should I use to clean it. Is it all one piece or two parts? Tx.

i left my keys in my truck friday night with the switch on and killed my batteries. got someone to jump me off and everything was fine until this morning. the truck barely turned over and would not start. had to get someone to jump me off agin. the batteries had 12 volts in them before the jump dropping to 7 when turning the switch to start. the alternator was putiing out 14.2 volts after starting. while i was looking around under the hood i noticed what you see in the picture. it appears the bolt on the mounting braket has worked its way thru the mounting point on the alternator. this aint normal is it? does anyone elses look like this? i guess its time for a new one. i …

  20. I'm about to pick my truck up from the shop... they reported a rusted & cracked front coil seat on the front axle. I can't say I'm surprised with all the rust underneath... still one more thing to get tended to. I haven't got the bill yet for finding & fixing the motor-quit-in-the-street problem... or the install of the AD150, big line & pickup. edit OK, I got the truck back. Cost an arm, a leg & a nut!! I had them show me the rusted out spring perch, so I could see exactly what they were looking at. Yup, it's rusted out. I'm not finding a listing for this welded on part. Anybody know where to buy this?
