So recently I made a long road trip from Alberta, and outside of Williston, ND I got hit with a dying VP...right out of the blue too. lucky enough I made it to Minot and got some work done the next day...really lucky, due to the oilfield there...reminds me of home in Cold Lake. Pretty sure it wasn't directly related to fuel at the moment it happened, because they got me into their garage there (at the Cenex) and we changed filters (mine were new, and I've got an inline BF1258 on the frame before it even gets to my canister (PF7977), I was using PS white...blah blaah blah...truck was recently purchased (it's a 2001 with 240k miles, had an airdog raptor, and a superchips…

I know.. I know... Its an old question, but I think I already know the answer, I just need to confirm. My truck has everything in my sig. I have an Edge JWA in the mail, so the Power Puck will be coming off. Would it be a safe guess to assume my truck should be in the 350hp/750fr lbs range, or would it be more like the 400/800 range?

Cranked the truck up this morning. Started fine like always. Half way between home and the shop I noticed my fuel gauge showed 0. I got to the shop shut the truck off and bumped the starter and didn't hear my lift pump running. This evening I'm gonna get a mechanical test gauge to see I its the gauge but if it ain't how do I test the pump. The gauge is a isspro ev2 0-30 electric gauge. I'm thinking its my sender but don't know.

I have a DiPricol mechanical gauge and had problems with the isolator, replace that with the needle valve set-up as decribed on this site. I still have the gauge dropping from about 15psi to ZERO and back up to 15. I've tried opening the valve more and closing it more with no change in the action of the gauge. You'd think that if the fuel pressure was truly dropping to zero the engine would let me know. Maybe it was the gauge all along and not the isolator?I'm going to replace the gauage and would like to install an electroinc unit to keep fuel out of the cab. I've seen there have been some problems with the electronics. Any suggestions on them and which seems to be…

I've seen a million of these guage install forum posts and I hate to start another one but Im kind of partial to this forum and the diesel truck site forum. I have a boost guage, fuel pressure guage, trans temp guage and an EGT guage. Its going in my 98 24 valve (which isnt running yet because Im waiting for my VP44 and lift pump). Im just looking for pointers here and there. things to do and not to do...etc. Just little tricks that people have learned over the years - - - Updated - - - Thanks for your help stodge73...you always seem to pull through for me....lol

I am going to go with an MBRP 4 inch system.. not sure which configuration (stainless, powder coat, or aluminized) probably just single. I was wondering if the PAC-brake or if available, other brands of 'improved' exaust elbow was worth the $275+/- ? The original elbow looks awful choked down! Another thing I have to consider is toughness.. are they as durable as the oem's? (cracking issues)(getting ready to start the 'rebuild' here soon!... about another week of gathering cattle.. and my year's work is complete!)......... unfortunately, 'next years' work started a month ago..

Im pretty new to diesels and this will be my 1st winter with one. Last year my transmission was down and then I shipped out to basic. Question 1:I have weak batteries (I need to replace them, but Christmas is making that tough) and I am wondering what all is going on when the "wait to start" light is on. I know the grid heater is one, but what else? What would happen if I just jumped in my truck and started it like a gas engine? The reason I as I am trying to save power for the starter when its cold.Question 2:When, and for how long should the block heater be plugged in before you start? What would I risk if I left the block heater plugged in all the time? High power bill…

Was kind of thinking of sending for the code to Hot Unlock mine, but i'm wondering how much difference I'll actually notice and if it's worth the $100. Anyone here have any opinions on theirs if they did it? I also thought I read before Edge sometimes puts it on a bit cheaper but

Just got back from a 2-week Southern Tour towing a 28ft Wilderness 5th wheel camper. Truck data in my signature is current. Rig ran great but always in search of better fuel economy. Around town empty it will get ~18 mpg. On two occasions I've taken it on road trips (empty) to Dayton (400 miles flat terrain each way) & gotten a hair over 20 mpg (hand calculations) running 67 mph (2200 rpm). On this trip towing the 5th wheel (trailer wt ~ 8k lbs) on fairly flat interstate roads at ~ 60 mph (slightly under 2000 rpm) I got 13.0 mpg. This was on the first leg of the trip from St Louis to Kentucky - the whole tank was burned with trailer in tow on the interstate. Later fil…

Well after gettin my 02 totaled by a Jack A$$ and not having a truck for 4 months and having diesel withdrawal I finally got another truck. I wanted the same options if not a better and I got myself a pretty good replacement. Its a 01.5 High Output 4x4 6spd. Only difference this time is the 4x4. This one has a few upgrades. Rebuilt Trans with Valair SD and a new VP44. Has rv275, edge comp, Banks intake horn, AFE intake (which i will be replacing) Magnaflow 4" TBE, Raptor 150, 08.5 end links and drag link with Bilstein stabilizer, BD Box Brace. Its leveled with Weld Racing Cheyennes and 35s. Do not like the wheel back spacing and offset so will try to sell the wheels an…
