We have three John Deere tractors. Two 2006 model 6615's and one 2001 model 6405. The 6405 has started blowing large amounts of blue white (unburnt fuel) smoke when going down hill under partial throttle. Now one of the 6615's is beginning to to the same. Pulling the throttle back to idle stops the smoke. I'm kind of suspecting leaky injectors. But I'm not a diesel mechanic. Some of our other older tractors are also beginning to smoke. Should we be adding two stroke oil to their fuel due to the ULSD. Any input would be appreciated.

To put it lightly this hasn't been my best week but I did finally get a full day off from both jobs so I decided to do a few things around the house. I had repaired a leaky main water valve and went to see if it was holding up good still (it was) when I ran across this. It almost looks like a mouse chewed on it. Normally it is fairly dark in this corner because the one light in the crawlspace just doesn't get this far but I had thrown a drop light in there when I noticed it. The wire was 12-2 Romex running to a dish washer the previous owner had installed. When we first bought the house the dish washer would leak due to whoever installed it running screw…

I need a 100 hour a week job in or something. Been so bored I have just been out staring at my truck making it more customized each day. A week ago I took the back seat out. I have had so much crap on it for a long time that I just cleaned it all out and threw the seat in the attic. The roominess was nice. For some reason we have a lot of toolboxes around the house so I eventually decided to try one out. The viable ones were either the one I used or one that was a little taller with maybe 3 more drawers. That one wouldn't work since the top had to open to open the drawers and I would have had to put the box 3-4" away from the back of the cab, which then I probably …

At the last minute, we went away for a long weekend with my outdoor scooter & the new-to-us, camper / toyhauler. We went to visit my brother at Erie Canal Village where he works in Rome, NY, a drive of about 300 miles. We got home a little after 4 yesterday (Tuesday) with 6 hours on the road including rest stops. The big flat sided camper was a bit of a bear on the roads... all of the aerodynamics of a brick. I had to keep my foot on the fuel even down hill except for one grade in Connectiut. We averaged 10.4 mpg (diesel costs 2.99 & up) Still since we did not rent a hotel for the first time, we stayed an extra night. Cost of fuel totaled ~$190. (Driving the truck…

Went hiking at Becker Hollow in Hunter NY on Sunday. Elevation was was about 100' per tenth of a mile. Started at 1850' and ended up over 1350'. We never got up to the view point, but will hit it in a couple of weeks, was not ready for a major climb. I guess less then 2 miles seems easy looking at a map. So it was FLman, FLwife and FLdog. Mopar Mom, can you identify the plant we took a pic of at the top of the mountain?

Well after more than 113 fuel purchases I finally started throwing away my piles of receipts today. I had kept them for a while after a fuel purchase in case the fuel was bad, but that turned into piles stashed in this drawer or that cabinet... couldn't think of any reason to keep them, other than to keep them... so away they went as I found them this weekend.. Found 5 piles of about 5-10K miles work each pile.So anyone else in the same boat?

Today when the wife and I were at wally world.I see this nice looking 2002 ram diesel, and a guy loading groceries. So I struck up a conversation.Told him how nice his truck looked, and he said it should I just got it out of the shop a tree fell on the back and it got repaired. He said he had 81,000 miles on it. So I struck up a conversation about the vp44 and told him everything I knew and how I just replaced mine.Talked about two cycle oil and all those that run it and all the posts I have read.He asked me if I would go with him to show him the oil to use, and I did and he bought a gallon. Told him to add one ounce of oil to one gallon of fuel that simple. So he said he w…

Well I had recently sent email to the armorall company asking if their product would make my dash crack. They answered and told me no.So like a stupid moron I accepted what they said. Now one week later I walk out and my dash is broke all the way from the window to the front of the dash.So I listend to a bunch of liars. Now my dash is a eyesore. I wonder if a dash replacement is available, and how much it would cost. HMmmmm!

Wound up getting several 8 foot tall x 4 foot wide cabinets filled with 2 foot deep plastic bins, and I am wanting to buy large quantities of nuts, bolts, screws, etc anybody know of any good places to get hardware? I went to tractor supply and bought 40 pounds of yellow grade 8 nuts and bolts, but they are all standard and 3.99 a pound seems a little high, I don't know maybe not. Are any of you all hardware collectors? I like to keep plenty of stuff around for projects in my shop

  18. I don't think I have mentioned that the wife and I live in the area where were surrounded by farm land.Basicly they raise wheat and cotton here. So when they harvest I'm there with a five gallon bucket and get fresh wheat from the field. Like right behind my house about 150 feet.Today I dug out the wheat grinder, and ground some wheat into flour. Now it's in the bread machine and we will be having fresh home made wheat bread toast and jelly with breakfast. If you have never ate wheat bread from fresh ground wheat, and made at home, then you have never ate good bread.Thats my post for today:drool:
