What do i need to do to get this thing to down shift

ok fellas..  ...  i searched for kick down threads and i would think there be alot of threads but no...    My main issue is i have to kick the overdrive out to jump out of my lane and pass a car.  or getting on an onramp  once i pick up speed  it shifts to soon unless im really pedal to metal.  so when its on the last gear in overdrive there is no going back.   I dont like hot rodding all over the place but if i want to pass a little honda its embarassing sometimes..     just put in 100 hp injectors, adjusted bands at trans...  replaced intercooler boots....  its got power just not going very far at 1100 rpm... thnx guys for ur help

I was recently fighting this issue with a buddy and we found that the TV linkage was not set correctly. To check if yours is correct get under the truck and have someone put there foot to the floor on the skinny pedal. If it doesn't bottom out the TV linkage at WOT then it needs to be adjusted. To adjust it there is a white clip on the APS sensor end that will allow the cable to be adjusted in or out. Basically the setting should bearly bottom out or almost bottom out the TV cable. When you go to pull the clip off the cable make sure the person tremoves the skinny oedal from the floorboard first.

What stall converter? Mine does't like to kick down either with a low stall and it shifts too soon for my liking during easy driving.

Sorry guys for late response. My notifications aren't coming in for some reason. I'm going to check that TV linkage. .. my gearing is 3.53 and tires are 33s. Torque converter I'm not sure but trans is built DDT. I assume has good converter.

CT CUMMINS 24 I did adjust the cable at the apps and brought my shifts sooner. Opposite of what u want. Night and day difference on my shift point. That fixed my late shift but did nothing for kick down issue

What programmer do you have on the truck.

My trans shifts funny with my smarty.

edge comp...    i have been told to disconnect and see if it helps...   havent gotten around to that yet.
