So I'm picking up my truck, with its new VP44 on Tuesday and will be making a 12 hour drive with in on the following Sunday.
As I was looking my truck over before sending it off, I noticed way too much residue in the mouth of my Turbo.  Considering that I run a K&N, I was pretty surprised. Then I started reading around here and my Turbo looks pretty much like the one in Mopar73's article about BHAF.
What I'm wondering is if I can use the tubin setup and heat shield from my K&N and get a BHAF to fit into the space?
If anyone has done this or knows about the size dimentions, I'd really appreciate it.
Normally, I'd just go get a filter and give it a go but, just coming out of a layoff and the expense of the new VP44, I just don't have a play around budget.
Any and all help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doc

Smarty timing for CR engines. If you catch up with AH64ID there is more he's posted too.

Oh, ok. So these are timing maps. Interesting to see.

Mike, do a little searching on the p7100 215hp motor. At higher RPMs it retards the timing a bit.

Just out of curiosity what is this map for. I do not see any values on the map or what the graph is referring to.

It's a timing table, and for my own reasons I left the values off. Timing, RPM, and throttle%

AH64ID knows what he's doing with the smarty tuning. He gave me a few tips before I completed making any tunes.

Oh I see. The map looks very similar to the software I used to program the HE351VE I used to use.

I know this is completely off topic but I am willing to send one of my own maps for the HE351VE if you are using a Fleece VGT controller.

Lol that's the ugliest timing graph I've ever seen. And the wonder why they have such weird timing rattle when stock.

Definitely something to do with emissions compliance I am sure of that.

Getting rid of the K&N and swapping over was a perfect fit. Heat shield and all.

Found the filter and cover at Amazon which totaled $80ish shipped to my front door.

Thanks for all the help and the great discussion.

Now all you go to do is upgrade that HY35W turbo for HX35W turbo...

Mike I think for his future purpose the HY35W will be perfect.  :kick:

Looking really good there Doc.

Hope she feels strong.

Looks like something good came out of the K&N set up. It does look good. I ran a K&N for quite a while in the stock filter box. Had a little oil in my turbo mostly on the blades. Nothing like what you had though.
