I am having one of my boot on the intake horns side come loose. I have tightened it and it still backing off.

I boost maybe 38psi.

Does anyone have experience with https://www.siliconeintakes.com/?

I am wondering if there is a smple fix, or if I should just get a new set of boots? The truck is 15yrs old and has 240k miles.

  • The intercooler is 100% not a 3.5". It is 3.63", there is a reason so many fight with the 3.5" boot.

My intercooler boots showed up today!!

Took very little effort to get the 3.5" on my intercooler. Maybe the 100 degree weather here in Texas helped.

Thanks guys for for the input and help. :thumb1:

There is a little trick I learned. Orange Degreaser from Home Depot will make silicone boots really slick. Once they dry it glued in place. I really got to fight to get them off. I've done this on a few Ford diesels with issues and never blown back off.

Anyone used gates or BD from geanos? I'm looking at changing mine, rockauto also has gates. About  $250 for all of them. Mine if pressurized to 25psl has tiny bobbles coming right through ruber if i use soap water. Not sure what they do at 40psi.

@903Dodge how do you like them so far, how much boost are you making. I looked at gates, then the ones you got (obviously wold like to go this route because of price ) and the ones @jlbayes provided link for which are not at 45 degree bend or at least I didn't see any, but price wise close to gates. The ones on vulcans site didn't look too impressive for the price. So now I'm scratching my head.

I just put two lower boots on from Silicone Intakes. Ordered the 3.5" x 3" - 45 degree and they went on snug but I used a 90 degree pick to follow it around the horn and then it pushed on with some side to side movement. Time will tell how they hold up.
